Giving up soda too! I did it for a few months before the holidays. I definitely lost a little weight so that's good too. Today at work we were like it's Fat Tuesday eat as much as you want! Tomorrow not so much.

Re: Lent
Since I've been really good about eating and working out i think I may give up coffee. I've cut back fromalmost 6 cups a day to 1 a day but I think I may go cold turkey...I dont know if I can do it.

FH and I are Lutheran. We both observe the Lenten season w/ getting Ashes today and we will have meatless Fridays. We do not officially give anything up.

Re: Lent
I am not giving up anything Instead I am going to get back into the routine of going to church every Sunday ( i was good all year until December, with the wedding planning I let it slide which is TERRIBLE ) I am going to fast on Fridays - which means no meat and no eating between meals - only three meals per day and only drinking water- i never eat meat on Fridays anyway I am going to do the rosary once a week, preferably on a Friday I am going to try to be more sympathetic to the people around me and not be so selfish

Re: Lent
I'm a terrible Catholic (either that or I have no will power)... I'm not giving anything up.
BUT, I will not eat meat on Fridays and I will go get my ashes today (I tried to go this morning but the guy wouldn't let me into the church with my Dunkin Donuts tea )

you don't have to give something up cpmpletely. I was learning in RCIA that even 'limiting' yourself from something for a certain amount of time or whatever can be a sacrifice...or giving up time to do something charitable....also you can make your lent sacrifice by abstaining from bad habits like having a sharp tongue, being rude, being judgemental. etc.
ohh I didnt know that- I think then I will try and be nicer to FH, I've been more bitcchy than normal to him lately and I want to start saying the rosary.
