I, too, have been a bad catholic...all my life actually. I've never given anything up for lent and always eat meat on fridays.
I do think it's awesome for people that do give things up. Years ago when I worked in a pharmacy we had a customer who gave up smoking and gambling and gave her family a big party with all the money she saved. (she would come in atleat twice a day and drop $200 each time on lotto)

FH & I don't eat meat on fridays during lent. i know its the typical catholic thing to do but everytime we have tried to do something else it never worked out.
funny story: when FFIL went to confession with the pope when he was in Rome, his penance was to not eat meat on fridays for a year. he never ate meat on a friday ever again. i think it was like 4 years in total. then he passed away.

I'm the same way!!! I dont go to church all year round...so I dont think following lent will get me into heaven any quicker. I'm a bad catholic

Ohh boy, I'm the same I'm going to try and give up cursing. I just can't drive until after Easter b/c sometimes there are some stupid Mother F*%*#$ on the rode. Oh ladies pray for me

fast food.... I have done it before, and it extended not only for lent but for 2 years! I never felt better when i did it. I don't really eat it that often anyway so all the better....
