Even though we all know that it is customary to tip both the bridal attendant and maitre d', was anyone reminded of this when they went to finalize their menu?

I came in b.c I;m a Leonards bride, but since I;m not till November, I can't help you
But I think when we discussed pricing and what not in the beginning it wasn't even mentioned? Was it mentioned for you then? maybe I just forgot.

Spitzergirl: I meant the additional tip at the end of the night.
I was at Leonards this weekend and the person who handles the menus, felt that he had to remind fh and I that, 'it was customary to tip the bridal attendant and maitre d'. I felt it was very unprofessional and wanted to verify that they say this to a11 their brides.

Re: Leonard's Brides Please Come In...
I got that even when I was looking at places. It didn't bother me. I would be pissed if the attendant of M'D said it to me though...
PS - I also heard you should tip the Banquet Manager...
yikes

I was told by Leonard's to tip the Maitre'D upon signing the contract. And now the bridal attendant, too? Sheesh! We're not made out of $$$! However, I was told because I asked about tipping.
It is pretty unprofessional for them to ask you to tip, because it's not required, but greatly appreciated. I wonder if there was a bad experience recently.

Actually, we did have a bad experience with them this weekend. Although I won't mention his name, the person who handles arrangements with the menus was very arrogant and rude. Since the minute we walked in his office the man lacked 'customer service skills' (to put it nicely).
I'm not here to bash Leonards, I'm simply sharing my experience. Thanks

Re: Leonard's Brides Please Come In...
I priced Leonard's also and felt that it was a bit commercial, such as a wedding factory. There was lines of couples waiting to see them. And i felt they rushed us out. Leonard's isnt how it used to be anymore - 10 years ago when my sis got married. I was there this month for my cousins wedding and was a bit disappointed with the service and food, the filet mingon does not look like filet mingon. I dont want to bash them but its just my opinion and preferences.

I saw many halls and went with leonards. They were the nicest and most helpful. There is also a reason why alot of people go there. Would you rather book a place that no one goes to. The service that I received was the best. I saw alot of other halls and I could give alot of reasons why I didn't pick them. I'm not going to say anything bad about anyone else's hall because I don't think it's right. Just my opinion.

I completely agree! One shouldn't talk bad about someone else's hall - because it's not right. That opinion (bashing) should be keep to oneself.
I, too, saw many halls, and was 'sold' to Leonard's because they were very helpful, and let's face it, the place is beautiful... but I won't bash the other spots I visited... it's not right, and it's not me.

Re: Leonard's Brides Please Come In...
It was mentioned to us when we SIGNED the contract. We were told that it was optional.
No one mentioned it during the final prep. But, that could be because I kept negotiating other things and they could tell that I would not be throwing around extra money to random people.

Re: Leonard's Brides Please Come In...
Again, no one is bashing someone else's hall. We're using Leonards as well and never had a problem with the sales manager that we've been dealing with.
These boards are to share both good and bad experiences. Therefore, no one really has to agree with our encounter. If you don't like or agree with my statement, ignore it!

I do believe the gratuity...is the tipping for the staff.
Yes, I will let you know how it goes...
Plus, I want to know if there are any parks in the area...that I can take free pics.
OR
Maybe, I will have to get a permit to be on the premise.

Re: Leonard's Brides Please Come In...
I went yesterday to have a final with Ian. He was nice and explained things to us. We also didn't know that we had a Maitre'D and Bridal Attendant. He didn't say anything about having to tip them, but I guess it goes w/o saying. I would have been offended if he would have said anything. But I agree that there's a lot of money going out in tips that day, besides all that we're spending on everything else!
