Today my friend at work told me that he and his fiance were about to book Leonard's last night. They wanted to hold the ceremony at the location as well so they asked if they had a room to accomodate them. (They are a group of approx 300 guests).. Anyway the guy told him no he couldn't do it. (But the bride knew that her friend had held the reception there a few years ago). Anyway long story short the guy wasn't even interested to 'turn the room' or to add a table for the ceremony (like in the front of all the tables). So the Brides' friend called up today and said she was getting married (around the same date) and they are like sure we can do ceremonies... the clincher is that they are muslim--the guy told them, aren't you supposed to have your ceremony at a mosque? I don't know if they are going to stick with them, but they are contacting their lawyer!

that is so messed up!! they should definitely pursue this- she should get something on tape or something- maybe she can contact one of the news programs that do that stuff...

She should definitely call them and ask to speak to a manager, whether or not they book or not. This person they dealt with needs to be severely reprimanded, or even fired!

Oh dear! Regardless of this persons prejudices and biases, he has to be very aware and conscious that a moment's thoughtlessness, his whole operation can go bye-bye. I am by no means justifying his comments or ignorance but that was just plain stupidity. My suggestion? Get a GOOD lawyer, go all the way and THEN have the wedding of your dreams at their expense!

Yeah! That is so wrong. I would hate to have my wedding at Leonard's, I would feel bad too. I hope they do take action against them. I hate racism in any shape or form.

Wait, they were 'okay' to have their reception there, but couldn't accomodate a ceremony. I agree that it was racist, especially with the mosque comment, but that's just strange. Ugh, I hate dumb people!

thats funny i went to a reception hall (not leonards) and they told me that they couldnt accomidate my friday night ceremony. so then he said to me 'why cant you get married at on of the other 2,000 churches on Long island. Obviously i did not pick this place!

I would go back and set up an appointment with someone else and see what they say or actually callthe place a nd speak to a manager or someone high up and complain about what has happend and contact a lawyer

Do you know the name of the person that said this to you? My reception is at Leonards.. now Im hearing this, so Its upsetting. I'd hire a lawyer..definately. Thats pretty messed up for them to say something like that.. Just think.. its there loss.

That's insane!! I can't believe in this day and age there are still so many people out there who are that close-minded!!! Hopefully everything works out ok for them and that they're happy with whatever they choose!!
