Hi, I got engaged this past August and since my fiancee is a U.S. Marine I am left to do most of the planning myself.......so I am trying to get as much information on catering halls as I can from others. Has anyone ever been to or had their wedding at Leonards of Great Neck? and what is your opinion of it?
I have not been to a wedding there, but have heard good things.
When we were looking, we went to see them. We really liked it, but they didn't have our date available. If they we probably would have booked with them.

Re: Leonards of Great Neck??
I put fair.. the only reasons I did this was the food was OK...Im not crazy about how many weddings they do at once... also my FI's cousin had her sweet sixteen there a few months ago... and there was another sweet 16 in another room.. it happened that people from the other party knew her and when they found out it was her birthday as well they came into the room to wish her a happy birthday.. this was like maybe 10-15 kids.. they stayed 15 min. at most and left.... whoever was in charge of that party.. insisted that my fi's aunt pay for the plates of the 15 kids that came in!!! She told them they didnt eat or drink anything and there plates were being paid for in the other room... well they made a huge scene and his aunt wound up paying for the kids... I thought it was the most unprofessional thing I had ever seen at a catering hall.. and she was paying the same price as a wedding !!!
I am struggling to get everything done alone, I have tons of time, we aren't getting married till October 20th, 2006 because he is a Marine. I just want to get the hall booked. We are going to get married at our hall so what it looks like is so important to me. Any suggestions for halls would be so appreciated.
I did a food tasting of the appetizers, and I thought it all tasted great. I wasn't too crazy about it having more than one wedding at the hall, but what are you going to do? The prices were so good considering what we were getting, and I was happy with how it looked, so we booked.
I was very surprised about how booked it was. We looked in September of last year, and for this year, from like August to November, it was so booked. I was able to pick from a Friday in August or a Friday in November, and we ended up picking in November only b/c FI's parents go on a cruise in August. Surprisingly August was cheaper than November. That seems like a more popular month, but I guess that may not be the case since it's so hot that month.

I went to a few weddings there. Other than that it's a wedding factory, everything was great.
