leonards or westbury manor

these are two very different halls i think..leonards is more elegant and classy looking but wm is beautiful and has a more home feeling to it..i went to a wedding this weekend to wm and loved the food it was amazing, the service was great and keep in mind that we were extra critical because it was one of our top two choices. on the other hand i have heard mixed things about leonards. wm has amazing grounds to take picutres, but i love the room for leonards and its so much bigger but both rooms are big enough for my party of about 115....i cant decide, both are pretty much the same in price so thats not the prob....im just not sure!!! ive been to 16 places and these two are the ones we both really liked...any input would help..tia

Leonards! =) hehe im biased

well i liked their ballroom, i also liked the water fountain outside, and i heard they put new doors in the entrance for $75,00 each - correct me if im wrong someone? in addition im having lots of out of towners so the location was convenient to all major highways, unlike westbury manor which would have been out there ...

also there are some nice indoor pic taking spots.

evaulate the food, location, price of both places and than make a choice based on that!!

good luck and congrats on your upcoming wedding

Re: leonards or westbury manor

I've never been to WM, so I can only give my opinion on leonards. We didnt really like leonards when we visited -- its very nice, but just wasnt for us. I would suggest doing a search on here for both halls. I know several brides have complained (and FH and I felt this too) that leonards is somewhat of a wedding factory -- they have like 3 weddings at a time. We also felt we werent getting asd much for the $ as other places. Their base price is good, but it doesnt include much. When you upgrade to include the stuff that most other halls include in their base prices, it starts getting expensive. I have heard that the food is good though.

Good Luck!

I am being biased because my reception is at WM. But, you can check out the Leonards thread and WM. Also, you should make a do and don't list of both are narrow it down from there.

I have to say that MANY of my guests have said that they felt as if they were in a beautiful, cozy home for our wedding. I am certainly biased towards WM b/c they took such good care of us, and the grounds/catering hall is gorgeous! Good luck with your decision!!!

I can attest to the fact that WM will provide you with OUTSTANDING service and food! I had no problems with the Westbury Manor whasoever and my DH and I are both so happy with chose them. They were so easy to work with and many of our guests have raved about them.
It's kind of funny, b/c now when we go to weddings my DH totally analyzes every little detail and compares it to the WM...he is turning into a bridezilla!
I haven't been to Leonards, and I know I'm biased but I hope this helps! Here is a link to my review for more WM details if you want..

Re: leonards or westbury manor

to be honest with you, i went to a wedding at leonards and i didnt like the place at all. the food was pretty good but i didnt like the decor,i thought it was a little too much and there were 3 events going on at the same time! we ran into the sweet 15 (cant spell it) and i think it was a business meeting or something in another room. it was a little too much. went to westbury manor and besides my aunts wedding, it was the best wedding i've been to. the food was fantastic, the service was amazing, the grounds are absolutely gorgeous!! i say go with westbury manor!

I loved WM for my wedding, but have never been to Leonards. Perhaps it would help you to do a search on both places and see what comes up.

It is a tough decision indeed. I went to both while hall searching.
Both of them provided us the same exact price.

Leonards felt really crowded. When we wnet we couldn't even walk through the crowd in order to go downstairs to the office. We clearly didn't like that craziness aspect. I also agree with the other poster that by the time you add certain things to the menu, it can become quite pricey.

Westbury Manor - The grounds are really nice. However, we knew that we weren't going to be able to partake in that beauty since we're having a March wedding - it'll still be too cold by then. the other drawback for us was the location. It's not an easy to find place. We're good and we practically drove right past it. If that was us, most likely our guests would have the same issue. Once you drive by, you can't simply make a U turn and come back.

Those were our contentions. In the end we went with what we thought was more for our $$ and with locations to take lots of pics onsite.

Best of luck with your decision.

actually, if you pass it, you can asily get in your left lane and make a u turn, and swing back around.. its really easy to get to i thought.

Re: leonards or westbury manor

You can check my review, Leonards did great by me. I loved them and have no regrets. However, there are a couple of things that have been said in the past:

-Such as too much going on
-The Decor (I loved it abd my guest were wowed by it)
-Seeing another bride (this didnt bother me at all)

WM wasnt one of the halls i visited (not for any reason but I picked Leonards beofre visiting or looking into other halls); so I cant do a comparison.

But I would use the above as 'it might happen at Leonards' to consider important this is to you and the negative impact it might have on your big day.

WM looks beautiful and there is alot of good things posted about it.

Westbury Manor.... I too am bias but ive been on these boards for almost 2 years and I have never read a bad thing about WM. Plus, I can tell you first hand that WM provided an AMAZING wedding and the Garden Room is perfect for a wedding your size; beautiful french doors that lead to an outdoor patio that your guests can hang out on. We loved it and i cant IMAGINE what the wedding would have been like if i had it anywhere else...DEF not PERFECT like mine was....

Good luck!!
