anyone have ideas for dresses that aren't so obviously bridesmaid's dresses--something they might be able to wear again somewhere?

jim hjelm dresses are georgous!!!! i think its more about the color of the dress rather than the style that determines if it looks bridesmaidy

hm i don't have any in mind...but i think any long dresses will almost never be worn again by your BMs, even if it's a non-bridesmaidy dress, lol. so i think a tea-length dress is the only thing that would be worn again.
j.crew has some dresses that your BMs could wear to a dressy event after the wedding...as long as the color is black or navy. i can't imagine wearing a bright colored dress again...it screams bridesmaid!

Re: less bridesmaid-y
I think it's the fabric that makes them look bridesmaidy. To me, shiny satin screams bridesmaid. Mori Lee has a lot of nice chiffon tea length dresses which I love and I think can definitely be worn again.

yeah when i was writing that i was like, hmm i bet someone's going to say they love bright colored dress i think you're right that a person can re-use a brightly colored dress again, i just think not everyone in the bridal party will re-use it, but that's to be expected.
also, yes i think the fabric def has to do with it!

not if there short enough or cute enough ...some can def be wore over again
I think something shorter...that's what I am going with.

Re: less bridesmaid-y
try the dessy group dresses..a lot of them are tea length dresses, in my opinion those could very well be worn again and again (its what i want for my girls)

Re: less bridesmaid-y
My BMs are wearing dresses from Ann Taylor. They're not as bridesmaid-y, and the girls commented that the cut and the fabric were much nicer than the traditional BM dresses they tried on.

Re: less bridesmaid-y
I know BCBG has a bridesmaid line. They def dont look 'bridesmaidy'. The store in the 60's in the city has a whole floor of their dresses. I don't see them on their website though
