So..... although i wanted to avoid looking at mansions based on the site fee i figured it couldn't hurt to look.
Have any of you had, are having, or looked at these places?
Bourne Vanderbilt at Dowling Vanderbilt in centerreach Coindre Hall Timber point?
If so what were the site fees? Also, do you have to bring in your own caterer and suppies (ex, chairs, tables etc)
Also, any price quotes for a Fri in Sept would be awesome.
Oh yes... i know Vanderbilt at Dowling is caped at 170 people. Do you girls know about the others?
Thanks so much. FM me with any info!!

Re: lessings mansions?
i'm having my reception at timber point. there isn't a site fee for timber point and lessings is the caterer that runs the place. they have their own tables, chairs, linens, etc. which are included in the price.

Re: lessings mansions?
I believe lessings is the officially caterer for most of the mansions on their list but I would call the site directly if you wanted to use a different cater.
Vanderbilt Dowling can hold a max of 150, 15 tables of 10.
There is a different site fee for sunday and friday weddings $1500 to the College. The college will also make you put a safety deposit down which will be returned to you about 2 weeks after your wedding.
If you have any other questions please feel free to FM me.
the de Seversky Center on the NYIT campus is also beautiful it holds about 200 from what the site says.
I am getting married at the West Sayville Country Club which is also lessings and there is also no site fee...

The Bourne is beautiful if you're having a bigger wedding. I am having under 150 so I decided on the Vanderbilt in Dowling. Not sure if you meant the Vanderbilt in Centerport, or if there is one in Centereach as well. The Vanderbilt in Centerport is beautiful. I actually went to see it set up for a wedding and it was amazing. You would have to have everything brought in so the costs of having a tent wedding add up really quickly

Have you looked at the Royalton Mansion. No site fees and you get a custom wedding.

Re: lessings mansions?
I looked at the Bourne Mansion and our wedding dates are around the same time, so FM for the quotes. But just a warning, I heard that Lessings food isn't all that great. I have never tried it, but that was just what I was told. Def try their restaurant first. I think its 3 Village Inn or something. You can check out the Lessings webpage.

Re: lessings mansions?
That was actually a huge concern for me. I had heard the same thing and FH and I are huge foodies so we did a food tasting at Timber Point before booking. I thought the food was pretty good, it was cooked well. I felt that the plate presentation could have been little nicer though. I think the food is the same for Timber Point, The Vanderbilt and The Bourne. The other locations vary, so the quality of the food may vary as well.

Re: lessings mansions?
I'm getting married at Timber Point. It's definitely more reasonably priced than the others that you mentioned. We're having a minimum of 150 and the room can hold about 250 (although I wouldn't recommend that many). I love it. We went for a tasting and thought the dishes we tasted were wonderful! I even really enjoyed the salmon and I HATE fish! Neil is wonderful to work with.

I booked West Sayville Country Club for this summer 8-7-09. I was very pleased with Steve. Has anyone else been to a wedding there any input?

I got married at Bourne back in August and it was unbelievable. Yes, I'm biased because it was my wedding, but to this day we keep getting compliments on how amazing the wedding was, AND the food. People constantly say how good it was, and the CH was huge (we did add an entire BBQ section to it, cause we love BBQ food...) but a lot of people were shocked that we also had the sit down because the CH was just ridiculous. Maybe it's what other people have selected, but what we had was fantastic. I have nothing but outstanding things to say about Bourne. If you are interested in it, definitely FM me, and I can tell you more (don't want to bore everyone else!) But it really was absolutely perfect!

I have to agree......EVERYTHING I have heard from people who either had there wedding at the vanderbilt or have been to other locations that Lessings has catered ALL said that the food was unbelievable. Im not worried at all. I have my Food Tasting on the 21st so Ill get back to all of you with my opinion.
