lessings mansions?

Original post by AdriandSteve

So..... although i wanted to avoid looking at mansions based on the site fee i figured it couldn't hurt to look.

Have any of you had, are having, or looked at these places?

Bourne
Vanderbilt at Dowling
Vanderbilt in centerreach
Coindre Hall
Timber point?

If so what were the site fees? Also, do you have to bring in your own caterer and suppies (ex, chairs, tables etc)

Also, any price quotes for a Fri in Sept would be awesome.

Oh yes... i know Vanderbilt at Dowling is caped at 170 people. Do you girls know about the others?

Thanks so much. FM me with any info!!

Re: lessings mansions?

Hi there!

I got married at the Bourne Mansion on 08.23.08 and honestly everything about Lessings and the mansion was AMAZING!

I come from a huge italian family that is very picky about food and they were all blown away!

The cocktail hour was amazing, the entrees were delicious as was the Vhour. Honestly from beginning to end they definitely impressed me.

Here is the link to my full review:

My Review

Ben and Steve at Lessings were 100% willing to work as hard as they needed to to make the day perfect and helped me customize the menu and make it exactly how we wanted it. If you go with any of the Lessings facilities you will not be disappointed!

I have to agree......EVERYTHING I have heard from people who either had there wedding at the vanderbilt or have been to other locations that Lessings has catered ALL said that the food was unbelievable. Im not worried at all. I have my Food Tasting on the 21st so Ill get back to all of you with my opinion.

If you like filet mignon, get the gorgonzola crusted filet - its delicious!!!

Am I able to get that at my food tasting??? Sounds sooooo Good!!!

At the tasting they gave us 3 different entrees - 1 fish, 1 chicken, and the filet (usually I think it is whatever they are serving at the event that night...). I'm pretty sure that Ben said that they always have it there because it is so popular...(I could be wrong)

I've been to all the lessings numerous times for all sorts of occasions, usually the food that is made on site with a fully stocked kitchen- like timber point, smithtown landing, 3 village is always pretty good....however imo - the food at the mansions is never that great.

That was actually a huge concern for me. I had heard the same thing and FH and I are huge foodies so we did a food tasting at Timber Point before booking. I thought the food was pretty good, it was cooked well. I felt that the plate presentation could have been little nicer though. I think the food is the same for Timber Point, The Vanderbilt and The Bourne. The other locations vary, so the quality of the food may vary as well.

I was married at Timber Point, and we could not have been happier with our decision. Service was above and beyond, and food was delicious. I can assure you that the food was beautifully presented day-of.

I looked at a few of the Lessings mansions but decided on the Royalton. Their food is phenomenal and anyone that has gone to a wedding there has raved about their food. There is only 1 wedding at a time and you can completely customize the menu. They gave a lot more than others for around the same price or cheaper. The site fee was also A LOT less than the lessing's mansions. You can also do a tasting with the Royalton. My parents, fiance, and I did ours and we are serious foodies and we were blown away.
You should check it out.
