Re: Lestan Fashion Headquarters

I have been there
You should go if its close and convienent
but I didt enjoy it either time I was there, Once looking for bridesmaids for another wedding and then looking for my wedding dress.
The saleslady told me they are ONLY allowed to show you a certain amount of dresses and they have a camera to watch the salesperson.
I dont know how true it is, but this is what she told me. I dont like any place that limits my time.

and in the bridesmaids dept they dont let you touch any of the dresses or look thru them, they want you to look at the pics on the wall, same with weddig dresses.

good luck

Re: Lestan Fashion Headquarters

I do not have any experience with bridal gowns but my mom bought both her dress for my wedding and my brother's wedding there last year. For the most part, we had a very postitive experience. The dresses came in like a week (my mom ordered them both a month before my brother's wedding) and for both she went in and had her fittings and alterations in one day. They were very nice to her about it too.

We had one small run in with a nasty salesperson but everyone else we dealt with was nice.

Re: Lestan Fashion Headquarters

Run, run, run from that place. When I was there there was a bride crying because the seamstress had cut too much off the bottom of her dress and her wedding was just days away.

Not to mention that the place is a madhouse and a few other choice thigns I wont share.

Re: Lestan Fashion Headquarters

I never heard of the dress thing/limit to see
I do know that I had no problems there, got my dress and my BM's dresses there

on the phone some of the workers have been rude however, if you deal or complain to the owners lucille and tammy, they are very nice, as for the dress thing no ONE ever said that to us
if you have an appointment, you have an appointment, maybe that person was in a bad mood! I dont think that is the reason they have security cameras! but that is just my opinion, I think b/c the area is not the greatest, not the worst but not the best so the cameras I think are there for security, but I could be wrong...........
I dealt w/ collette in bridal who was a doll, my seamstress was josephine M and she was a doll and I had no problems w/ my gown at all. They have good prices ---I agree NOT all of the workers are nice....... I do not know the names of who was rude to my MIL on the phone
it is busy but worth going if you dont live too far
hope this helps if you have more questions you can forum mail me
like, I said we had no problems except that people have been rude on the phones at times, never the owners though, just the workers, w/ the exception of Collette :-))

Re: Lestan Fashion Headquarters

No for the love of God NO.

I posted in another thread about my mom's experience there. Complete nightmare. We dragged her out of there after not one, but two sales women told her she was too fat to wear any of their gowns, and one of them told her she should try the Lane Bryant catalog.

Very rude, very nasty, and the store is a pigsty.

If you need to go in Brooklyn, head to Ninette's on Avenue U, or Valentina on New Utrecht Avenue. Both great places with beautiful gowns and wonderful sales help.

Re: Lestan Fashion Headquarters

I did not like their service, but I liked their prices. I don't think I would chance them with my wedding dress, but I got the girl's dresses there. I think the help is bad, but their selections are great. I think she should go to get an idea of things, but there are better options out there. They are way understaffed.

Re: Lestan Fashion Headquarters

They do not allow you to look throug the BM dresses, my girls had to look at the catalog or choose something from the wall, then they would pull it out, I think they only do that to keep some order to where things are.

They lied to my BM when they told her that she would not be able to come in for her dress b/c they had it in another building...total lie. I called them and told them that I was coming to get one girl's dress b/c she lived in Dallas and she was going to be doing her own alteration, they went right to the basement and got the dress for me. I did not like that at all.

Re: Lestan Fashion Headquarters

I agree w/ shamma
they need more help
everyone will give you different opinions
but my fittings for my gown went smoothly
I didnt wait long w/ the scheduled appointments and I got my gown in time for the wedding which is all that matters
it is on you to make your appointments so you get in time and if you do, they will be reliable and get it to you in time, my mom got her dress there! thirty years ago! LOL so they are in business a long time, you can give them a shot and if someone is rude to you

call lucille or tammy and I am sure they will take care of you

misty: So sorry about your mom, I know tammy pretty well and I am sure if you told her someone said that to your mom, she would yell at them!!

Re: Lestan Fashion Headquarters

We did Tammy....got no results. We were so disgusted by their attitudes. It's a shame too, we lived in that neighborhood for years and it was always the place everyone ran to for gowns. Not anymore!

Edited to add: This incident happened about 3 years ago...not for my wedding, but a siblings.

Re: Lestan Fashion Headquarters/misty

im surprised
she is nice and seems like she cracks the whip to the workers lol
it can get crazy there but other than a rude one on the phone once to me and once to craigs mom
thankfully, I had no problems, my mom and her sister got their gowns there too
I honestly believe they have a big selection , most pictures I brought from books they carry and they will get the job done but probably do need more staff like shamma said....

its funny, from brides magazine, whatever gown I liked and when I looked up NEW YORK it always listed LEstan! that is why I wanted to go, my mom got her dress there but she didnt really want to travel to brooklyn again! I said but you got your dress there and she was like that was years ago when we actually lived in Canarsie! not LI
LOL

edited to say: On a plus note.... if your good w/ your eating habits that day.... when you go to look for dresses and your fittings, then you can go three blocks away or so to Avenue U, a nicer area and eat at an awesome restaurant, La Villa!!

Re: Lestan Fashion Headquarters

My mom had a great experience with her dress for my sister's wedding. We looked there for the Bm dresses for her wedding also...We didn't get the dresses there b/c it was out of the way for all of the girls. I really didn't see a problem. I would be careful though. It seems like they changed

Re: Lestan Fashion Headquarters

I am surprised ot see so many complaints. My mom loved the service there. They were so sweet to her and my mom was very insecure and nervous about trying on dresses. Like I said before we had met with one rude person but other than her everyone ws super nice to my mom. And especially with my mom's demanding time frame I was pleasantly surprised to see how nice they were to her. We were there in August and October of this year too!

Re: Lestan Fashion Headquarters

Thank you so much for all of your help, ladies!!! My friend is not looking to go to Brooklyn, but aside from Kleinfelds, and RK Bridal, that is the only place that carries her dress. And, Kleinfelds is charging about $500 more for the dress, and RK doesn't have it for her to even try on.

Re: Lestan Fashion Headquarters

Do you have a written quote from the other store? Kleinfelds may match it!

Call Valentina Bridal also, it's not far from Kleinfelds. 718-837-5757.

Re: Lestan Fashion Headquarters

Great idea! I'm afraid to go to Lestan's now. This will be her first time trying ANY bridal gowns on (she just got engaged). She's from CT, and I fear will be a little turned off to the Lestan-type place.

Re: Lestan Fashion Headquarters

Eve of Milady. They have it at Kleinfelds, but it's much more expensive there. RK Bridal, although they sell this designer, they don't have her particular dress. So, we're going to go to Bridal Reflections in Carle Place. I think that place is better than Lestans. What do you think?
