let me be a brat for a minute.

FOr FMIL's birthday in January - me, FH, FBIL and his wife were all going to get FMIL a puppy since she will be an empty nester and we will also be taking Brutus out of the house after the wedding.

Well, FBIL's wife went out TODAY and bought her a puppy bc FMIL just had surgery YESTERDAY so she will be home for a few weeks.

#1 it was supposed to be from all of us, well FH and I are stuck at work so while we are paying for half its not really from all of us now is it?

#2 how do you expect a woman who just had surgery to take care of and train a puppy!

i am just so annoyed - i feel like they were sneaky

i am being a brat - i know. i will get over it in a minute.

I am the baby of MY family so i am so used to being the favorite LOL in FH's family FBIL is the oldest but he always manages to steal the spotlight! ALWAYS!!!!!!!

I have to agree with you - that was sucktified behavior.

Maybe you all can hire someone to come over and take care of the puppy while she's recovering? Or pay a trainer to come to the house to show her how to do things????

i think that's kinda lame of her to do that. i'm sure the thought was in the right place, but it wasn't cool. and the fact that she just had surgery, she doesn't need the stress of a puppy.

Besides the fact she didn't think it through, why are you paying for half? You're right, it's not from you in this case. Can you get a trainer or help take care of it as your part of the gift?

You are so not being a brat. I think your FSIL is a bit jealous because you are going to be the beautiful bride and she will be known as the knuckle head who brought her MIL a puppy while she is healing.

You're not being a brat at all. The gift was suppose to be from the four of you so you and your FH should have been consulted as to when the puppy was to be purchased! I would be poed! As you already stated...how is your poor FMIL going to care and train for the puppy as she recovers from surgery?!?!

Your not bratty at all snce you agreed to get it for her together. i agree that taking care of a puppy may be difficult after surgery. How rude of them!
