Personal questions involving sex are always fun and inappropriate so let me be nosy and ask:
how many of you girls out there are on the pill?? what about other methods (like the patch or ring)? and if none of those methods are your fancy, do you and your FH use condoms? what about those who use nothing at all b/c you don't have sex?
i'm curious... sorry to offend and i don't know what made me think of this but i thought it would be fun!! I'll start: I'm on birth control (Yasmin) -- works great and I love it.

i am so glad you ladies posted this - i thought i was the only one with the sex drive problemo - hopefully with this new pill that problem will be history and i will be back to my old HAPPIER self!
lol I hope that helps but the only thing that worked for me was getting of hormones all together.
I agree!! I must've tried at least five different brands but I kept getting the same result!! Hats off to you if it works!! I unfortunately was not so lucky, so the only answer was getting rid of them!! FH is much happier now too!!
It's funny, I didn't lose my drive, I was just an emotional DISASTER when I first went on the pill. Like, severe mood swings, going into hysterics...I went off for a bit and went back on a year later and now I have no complaints!
I don't remember sex. I haven't had any! That's a lie- I had sex 2 times in the last month and have to wait another month b4 I can.
That boy better look out!
Who's your daddy!

was on depo but gained 40 pounds, then the pill, but kept forgetting to take it, what i love the best was the patch, however they recently recalled it, now back on the pill for four months, Im doing a bit better on it now after the first 3 months.

I was on the Patch and changed over to Estro Step about 6 months ago. I loved the Patch because there was really no thinking involved. But I like the Pill too because I don't have that thing stuck to my body.

Re: Let's get 'Inappropriate'
I also tried a few different hormonal methods and none of them were all that great. I mean, they seem to have done their job, but they made me miserable. On Ortho tri cyclen lo and Yasmin I had no sex drive and got really moody, and my breasts got REALLY tender right before my period. On NuvaRing I had a slightly better sex drive, but the side effects were even worse: I was moody, my heart started racing, I would get dizzy the first day or two of each new ring, and, the worst, I had a week long series of panic attacks (which I had never had before). That was this winter, and I'm still seeing a therapist to deal with the effect those panic attacks had on me.
So, now we're using a mixture of condoms and Fertility Awareness Method, which is a natural cycle charting method that when done properly can be as effective as the pill. I think that's what we'll be using when we're married, as we don't want to have kids for a while yet. It just takes a while to get the hang of it. I'd definitely recommend it for those who don't like condoms and are using the 'pull and pray' method.

Re: Let's get 'Inappropriate'
i thought this was so interesting that i had FH read it and now that we both read it-- and have thought about it, i think the yasmin that i'm on is reducing my sex drive!!! it never dawned on me before i saw so many people write about it-- yikes, i thought i was just tired or whatever! but i def have noticed a difference-- but the problem is that i love yasmin in all the other ways: no side affects, if anything it acts like a diaretic the Dr said so i don't have to worry about weight gain -- uh oh, what should i do?
i'm def going to talk to my Dr about it and see what he says. thanks ladies!!

I know! I thought I was the only one too! My sex drive has gone down tremendously since I've been on it, and I've never made the relation b/c I have been on the pill for about 8 years now and never had any problems. Does anyone know of another pill that has the same low estrogen level as Yasmin, but doesn't have this side effect? I don't want to gain weight and I can't be on anything too high b/c I get yeast infections.
Wow, now that we know waaaaay too much about each other

lol, i know right? there is no way to avoid TMI with this thread-- oh well!! haha... but, i would talk to your dr. and explain that you need a pill like yasmin but w/o the sex drive going out the window. i would say ortho tri cyclin LOW-- b/c the regular one gave me MAJOR side affects (i gained like 20 pounds).... so that one should be good then-- i love yasmin for every other reason BUT the sex drive thing but the more it hink about it i used to be SO much more into having sex--so i feel bad for FH. i'm going to make an appt soon

Seasonale and I love it!! I only get my period every 3 months and its very light. I have been on about 4 different pills over the last 10 years, and I have the least amount of problems. My sex drive is better then ever!

Re: Let's get 'Inappropriate'
For the ladies not using any form of BC or just condoms. Do you chart your ovulation cycle so you know when your fertile? It could give you a clearer view on when you and FH can have fun without worrying about getting preggers. PLUS by charting your cycle and ovulation you can find out if your flow will come near/on your wedding day. If you'll be fertile while on your honeymoon as well.

Wow, I would definitely recommend you going to the gyno...they need to check you out and make sure everything is ok...please don't put it off for too long...how old are you?

Re: Let's get 'Inappropriate'
I agree with the above Jeanine-- I was the same as you a few years ago and when I went to my regular Dr and told him that he was like WHAT?!! and made me go right away. He said girls should go when either they a. turn 18 or b. lose their virginity-- whichever comes first.
good luck hun!! if you need the name of a good dr. i have one to recommend!!!
