I agree with the above Jeanine-- I was the same as you a few years ago and when I went to my regular Dr and told him that he was like WHAT?!! and made me go right away. He said girls should go when either they a. turn 18 or b. lose their virginity-- whichever comes first.
good luck hun!! if you need the name of a good dr. i have one to recommend!!!
And don't be nervous...it is no biggie !!!

yes, i should have mentioned that-- it wasn't a big deal at all and i was really nervous about it-- to the point where the dr. was like please calm down LOL but it was fine-- and i actually enjoy going now, i know that sounds weird, but it makes me feel good to know i'm healthy and doing the right thing-- and i always get my BC pill RX from there so that always means there's fun coming my way hahaha

lol I prefer my male gyn too. I think sometimes the female gyn is meaner? It sounds weird but men seem nicer since they accept that they just don't get it. lol

Re: Let's get 'Inappropriate'
Yeah I think some women feel weird about going to a male doctor but mine is like 70 or something, the sweetest little old man. I could never imagine him doing something inappropriate the idea of it doesn't even skeeve me out because it is just too funny to imagine it.

Re: Let's get 'Inappropriate'
i will only go to a guy doctor and here is my theory
women are usually so catty and hate other women so i am a young girl coming in, she knows the exam doesnt hurt - so she is not going to try to make me extra comfortable
guys have NO idea what it feels like - and they are in such awe of the female anatomy - that i definitely think they are extra gentle. . .
plus with all the old women that go in there i am probably a little treat!!!!!
this is the stuff that will come back to haunt me when i run for president!

Seasonale and I love it!! I only get my period every 3 months and its very light. I have been on about 4 different pills over the last 10 years, and I have the least amount of problems. My sex drive is better then ever!
very good about the sex drive-- go you!!!!
and seasonale? really? hmmm, i would LOVE to get my period only every three months but is it OK? did your Dr assure you? i'm def going to ask about it-- is it low estrogen tho?? otherwise i blow up like a balloon!!
My DR gives it to her daughter. She is mentally chaallenged and it helps them in the end with her. I figure if she gives it to her daughter I can take it. I am not sure about the hormone level but I dont get the migraines on this one that I did in the past.

yeah me too-- but after reading this thread a lot of the girls are saying that they have experienced a lower sex drive-- (this is real personal so don't answer if you don't want to) but, have you noticed that yourself?? once i read it on here, the more i thought about it: i think it has been decreasing my drive a lot-- i just thought it was a normal decreasing as i get older but the more i think about it, i think it's the pill.
so i'm going to my Dr... just wanted to know if you noticed that b/c you are on yaz also.

Im really scare of those pills that you only get your period a couple of times a year. Your menses is supposed to clean you out and when you don't get your menses where does all that stuff go that needs to be cleaned up, like your eggs and okay I won't get technical I was going to start saying some nursing words-taking nursing course. As far as Depo a no no, my cousins go so sick and one went 8 sizes up in a month, because its a steroid.

Re: Let's get 'Inappropriate'
When you are on the pill, your ovaries stop releasing eggs and the uterine lining does not thicken as much. This is because the pill regulates various hormones produced by the ovaries and/or thyroid glands. (Sorry for the long winded answer, I am a biology teacher.)
Seasonale is basically like taking the regular pill for three continuous months.
Curently, I am on Ortho-tricyclen and have had no problems with it.
