Since there's such a long French Pol one, I think we need one of our own....
So...how long are you going and where are you staying? And what activities do you want to do?
I'm staying 9 nights - 4 in Kauai, 5 in Maui. Both at the Hyatt.
I REALLY want to do the bike ride down the volcano...anyone else plan to do that?

Re: Lets Start a Hawaii Thread
We are planning on doing that as well.
We're going for 13 nights, 2 in Oahu (one at the beginning, one at the end), 4 in Maui at the Westin and 7 in Kauai (hopefully at a place we exchanged our timeshare for but, we're still waiting if not the Hyatt and the Princeville).

Re: Lets Start a Hawaii Thread
What are you planning to do in Kauai? It seems our to do list is longer in Maui than it is in Kauai (the bike ride down the volcano, luau, Road to Hana) but, we're staying in Kauai longer. I am interested in doing the helicopter ride, my friend did it and her pics are awesome. I am also planning to relax at the beach and the pool

I'm still deciding but leaning towards Hawaii for sure. Also, its hard to choose which island to go to. What does everyone think about each? I hear Kaui is so beautiful, but the Big Island is amazing also. Then Oahu and Maui are musts, I just can't decide!

Re: Lets Start a Hawaii Thread
I am going back a forth on a few honeymoon itineraries with some travel agents. We chose Hawaii but I am having trouble deciding which hotels to stay at and which islands to spend the most time on. Which Hawaiian island would you splurge on hotels? We thinking of going to Maui, Kauai and the Big Island....
(we'll be leaving for our honeymoon Nov 11)

Re: Lets Start a Hawaii Thread
Maui is the most expensive island, but my TA also says its the best. I know Wakiki is more of a city, and hotels are signifigantly cheaper there. Kauai is supposed to be beautiful -- I can't wait for that. I don't know anything about the big island. i wish i were stayin in HI for longer though...

Re: Lets Start a Hawaii Thread
All of my friends who went to Hawaii loved Kauai. Only a few have gone to the Big Island and they had good thing sto say about it. Maui they said was nice but, they liked Kauai better (Maui is a bit more commercialized). Honolulu-Waikiki is a city so they said it was beautiful but, compared to the other islands it was their least favorite.
Hope this helps!
I have also heard that the places to stay in Kauai are the Hyatt or the Princeville. More people I know have stayed at the Hyatt because of it's location (in the Poipu area as opposed to Princeville) and said it was the nicest hotel they have ever stayed at.
If you go to the Big Island, the best hotel to stay at is the Four Seasons. I've heard great things about it.
As for Maui, I've heard great things about a number of different hotels (The Gran Wailea, The Fairmont, Westin, Hyatt, etc).
