Re: Lets Start a Hawaii Thread

Add me to the list!!!

12 nights
-7 in Maui
-5 in Kauai

Can't wait!

FYI - I have already been to Oahu and it is great, but as far as nightlife it is still lacking in comparison to NYC. My fiance and I love nightlife, but I would suggest choosing locations in Hawaii based on exoticness which I think you find more on the other islands. If you chose Oahu there are some fabulous resorts there (i.e. Hyatt) and Hanuama Bay is great snorkeling. I was there for a week and to tell you the truth what I remember most was the two nights we spent on the Northshore because it was incredibly peaceful, romantic, exotic. We actually hung out with native hawains on the beach at night, built a bon fire, drank wine and ate fresh fish that they hand speared that night in the ocean. We talked about the stars, culture and life - it was unforgetable. We also enjoyed snorkeling the best at sharks cove because it was not packed with tourists and long lines unlike Hanuama Bay. Last, all the food we had was fantastic - and we are picky eater!

I've heard Kauai is nicknamed 'The Baby Making' Island because there is nothing to do there. Has anyone else heard this?

FH and I were thinking of Maui and Oahu only. We eliminated Kauai only because of the above reason. But now I see so many of you going, I'm wondering if what I heard is wrong?

We def want to relax and just enjoy each other, the beach and the sun.....but we also want to have fun.

Kauai was the best actually!! Everyone I know that went to the other island said Kauai was the best and wished they stayed longer there!!

hi girls! I'm going to Maui for 6 nights and Oahu for 7 nights!!! I can't wait!!!

Anyone else going to Oahu? I have tons of things planned for Maui, but not much for Oahu. Any suggestions? What are you girls doing?

The only thing we have planned so far is going to Pearl Harbor. We might also go over by Diamondhead and snorkel. We're now staying 3 nights there so if you find anything that sounds good, let me know!

Def.inetely climb diamondhead.... its a hard walk all the way to the top, but the view at the top is breathtaking!!!!!!! I highly reccommend it, we loved it. And Pearl Harbor is geat, jsut get on line really early in the morning at 7 i think, when they open up, lines forme pretty early there.. jsut a few tips

Is anyone staying at the Hyatt in Maui? Have you heard that there is no beach there? This is what I am hearing, and I am wondering how true this is?

All of my friends who went to Hawaii loved Kauai. Only a few have gone to the Big Island and they had good thing sto say about it. Maui they said was nice but, they liked Kauai better (Maui is a bit more commercialized). Honolulu-Waikiki is a city so they said it was beautiful but, compared to the other islands it was their least favorite.

Hope this helps!

I have also heard that the places to stay in Kauai are the Hyatt or the Princeville. More people I know have stayed at the Hyatt because of it's location (in the Poipu area as opposed to Princeville) and said it was the nicest hotel they have ever stayed at.

If you go to the Big Island, the best hotel to stay at is the Four Seasons. I've heard great things about it.

As for Maui, I've heard great things about a number of different hotels (The Gran Wailea, The Fairmont, Westin, Hyatt, etc).

I agree Kauai is the way to go you will not be disappointed and once you go to the other island you will love Kauai the best! We stayed at Princeville for 16 nights!! But made allot of trips down to the south side byt Poipu Beach loved it down there also!!!

Make sure you rent a Jeep!!!

You recommend a jeep in Kauai as opposed to a convertible? We rented a jeep for Maui? Just curious!

Thanks!

Re: Lets Start a Hawaii Thread

someone give me a suggestion to get my FH to just relax and go along with our 7 days in Oahu Hilton Hawiian Village. I wanna go so bad. He says whatever you want honey I'm happy. Now he calls me Let's do Cancun. Cancun ? Hawaiin Village Hilton now Cancun .
Please. Honeymoons are supposed to be special. Cancun reminds me of Spring Break ,not mature romance.

FH and I are meeting with a travel agent tomorrow to discuss Hawaii!!
I am so psyched!

I'll post if I find out any good tips.

Otherwise, past future brides, if you want to rave about your hotels/ideas for Maui and Kuaii (sp?), please do!

We are staying at the Marriott Ihilani Resort & Spa in Oahu - a bit off the beaten track but that is where we are first landing and was looking for something nice and quiet. Then we are going to Maui and will be staying at the Fairmont - totally splurging on a beautiful big suite!
