I am not sure if there are additional tips required but I think that is what gratuity means. Can you guys tell me what types of cakes they offer with the packages? Has anyone chosen to do passed hour dourves?

I am using the Tiffany Crystal (I think thats the name) and they were redoing it. I was wondering if anyone saw it yet.

Re: Lets start a Leonards of Great Neck Thread
You girls are going to love it there! I had my reception in the Starlight Ventian room in October. I originally booked with Marcucio - who was incredible, very cool. He kept us waiting one night, because he had an entire family in his office for his earlier appt that kept asking questions. As a result he threw in some extra stuff. I met with Ian briefly, but did my final with Bobby Sousa (the owner). They were all so great. I can't tell you how wonderful everyone was and how they made sure everything was perfect. We received so many compliments on the wedding and the reception. Everyone LOVED the CH. Our matre d' and bridal attendent were the best. During dinner they brought us one of each meal, because they thought we should at least taste it! At the end of the night, they helped us gather everything, our bridal attendent had already packed everything up for us nice from the bridal suite. They loaded our limo for us and everything. Oh one nice thing they did, that my parents loved, was they brought us, my parents, and the grooms parents into the CH and reception room to do a tour to make sure everything was the way we wanted it. The reception room looked incredible - it was simply magical. As for other weddings, the only time this was an issue was when we decided to join our CH from our bridal suite. We had to walk through the main lobby where another bride was taking pictures. They made us wait a few minutes, because they are very consciences of weddings running into one another. I didn't care, but appreciated their efforts. We never heard or saw another wedding or party otherwise.Good luck to all of you - you are going to LOVE it. Let me know if you have any questions!

Re: Lets start a Leonards of Great Neck Thread
Oh the cake....They can do whatever you want for the cake. However, there are two standard cakes that are included. If you want something intricate or with fondant, it will cost extra. I didn't love either of the two standard cakes, but my fiance' thought it was a waste to spend extra on the cake (he rather upgrade the CH -which we did). They were sooo accomodating. Ian was who did our finals for menu and all and was very helpful. Once I explained what I wanted, he said no problem.

What is fondant? (I don't know too much about cake.)
And do you think that they would charge extra for something like this?:

I do believe that is one of their standard cakes (although the flowers are done by your florist - not Leonards). They have a whole book of cakes for you to look at.
Fondant is a special frosting that is hard (it doesn't taste very good, very sweet). It gives you that very smooth, hard finish.
The cake you posted is very pretty, but I am sure it would be extra. First of all it is made with fondant frosting.
I wanted that smooth finish, with not lots of extra - I was looking for something very simple and elegant. They created a 4 tier stacked square cake that was smooth (it wasn't fondant, so it wasn't that smooth, but still came out great).

Re: Lets start a Leonards of Great Neck Thread
There is definitely an additional charge for cakes that are different from the 2 that Leonard's includes.I ended up paying $150 extra to get a basket weave cake.

I'm really loving our little thread, too... Below, I found some bridge cakes for you (hope that helps).
jms100303, you've been very helpful. Your cake cake out very nice... and it's like how I'd like mine. Simple, and to the point. Your cake didn't have fondant, though, right? Didn't know if you typo'd...

Re: Lets start a Leonards of Great Neck Thread
oops - that was a typo. It wasn't fondant, but they did a good job making it smooth. I can't even remember how it tasted, LOL. We ended up with vanilla cake and chocolate mouse filling. Pretty simple, but it was the one thing that my fiance' really wanted. They have a lot of choices. I wanted chocolate with canoli filling, which we tasted and was very yummy.I think they can do a bridge cake if that is what you want, but it wasn't one of the two included.
Don't worry ladies - they can accomodate anything you want. I was worried about the cake too, and it really is no big deal.
