Levittown Question

Re: Levittown Question

DH's lived in Levittown for a long time and really loves it. We currently renting here and hope to start house-hunting next year. We're in the Island Trees section. I heard it's a good school district. I've seen a lot of 'for sale' signs while driving around.

Good luck,
Donna

L'Town born and raised! hehe.. jk
I have lived here all my life, and so has FH. Actually we grew up (and still live) around the block from eachother:) We met in elementary school, and have been together since 96.

I love Levittown... I think over the years it's changed a little, but so has every other neighborhood. People move out, new people move in. But thats not necessarily a bad thing. In college, I remember people asking where I was from, and I would say Levittown.. and there was always a 'Oh....' following my response. I think we have to try harder to get people over preconceived notions of who we are. Too often people think 'white trash' which personally offends me, since my family and most others in Levittown are extremely hard workers!

I loved going to school here, and if I had the opportunity I would teach here too. Great bunch of people:)

pedestrian overpass??? OMG Im so clueless and I travel that all the time!! Maybe im to young to remember it. Im just thinking Seamans Neck Rd. is in Seaford and I think some of Levittown and Wantagh and I had friends that lived on seamans neck rd in seaford who went to Island Trees with me. I know Levittown Memorial is where boces is.

Re: Levittown Question

Hi I live in Levittown. My husband is from Jericho and we looked all over. The reason we decided to live in Levittown is because it was close to his parents in Jericho but affordable. We bought a extended cape (the previous owner had 4 kids so they did a lot of upgrading) and we are very happy with our home.

When I had my baby, after only being on the block 1 year, every single neighbor came by that week bearing baby presents. I think its a nice community and my favorite part about the neighborhood is how much people decorate for every single holiday. To me it feels very family oriented.

Re: Levittown Question

yeah..we recently moved in too...so when it snowed the first time, we only had one shovel. one neighbor next door plowed our walkway (without us knowing), then my neighbors next door and across the street shoveled our cars out. it was great!

That's where my dad went back when it was a regular HS.
My grandparents lived around the corner from a school, (Division ave maybe?) from about 1951 to 1984.
I loved the historical 'early suburb' feel of the area. The way the streets are all planned out in differnt sections, the community pools. . even how all teh houses used to be the same.
I loved going to teh pool ther ewith ym grandparents when I was little.

I don't knoo much about the area now, but I used to practive drving there , b/c there are lots of side streets & my dad knew the area.
