LI Reception/Rhearsal Help

Hello,

Okay I just got engaged and plan to have my wedding some time in 2006 May/June/ August?? Anyway I am not sure where I am having it but I definetely know what I am looking for. I will be having a lot of guests coming from out of town and the rest will be coming form the NY area. In total I plan to invite around 170 and commit to 150.. This is what I have in mind:

Rehearsal Dinner- clambake on beach

Wedding Ceremony/Reception- outside on beach/ near water/ vineyeard or in garden.

Cocktail Hour- outside

Reception- in tasteful ballroom or in a tent.

I also am interested in a venue that only hosts one wedding at a time. Please share yout thoughts I need all the help I can get!!! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why don't you check out Giorgios? It's near the water out on the North Fork of LI. I'm not sure of their minimum, but they have a really nice wraparound porch for the CH and a beautiful ballroom.

There is a place out east (maybe Crows Nest) that has a package that includes a rehearsal clam bake on the beach and the idea is to get everyone together and have all OOT guests and anyone else who wants stay and celebrate the wedding all weekend. Sorry, I can't be of more help but I think that is the name of the venue, I saw an ad somewhere ;)

I saw that you asked about the Crescent earlier and that meets many of your requirements. I'm not sure about the clambake, but they do ceremonies on the beach and CH indoor and outdoors. If you're interested in a Sat. night wedding though, they require a higher minimum- 200. And just so you know, you may be cutting it close to guarantee 150 and only inviting 170. Most people get cancellations between 15--20%, which would put you at under 150.

Re: LI Reception/Rhearsal Help

have you looked into the harbor club?

of course i am biased - but it seems to meet most of your criteria - on the water - one wedding at a time, amount of guests and it has a beautiful ballroom and room for cocktail hour - both which have a full wall of windows that let you look out onto the water.....

and for your out of town guests - you can block rooms at the huntington hilton and they will shuttle them to and from the harbor club as a hotelcourtesy

if you give them a call - ask to talk to Matt - he is the manager there and has been more than helpful for my FH and I

here are some pics of the outside and one of the ballroom

*** edited to say that the pic of the reception room - the wall that isnt shown on the left hand side is the wall that is glass and looks over the water

It is the Crow's Nest, they have a website, just google it.

You might want to check out Captain Bills, Atlantica or Gurney's also.

Re: LI Reception/Rhearsal Help

Im getting married at the North Ritz Club in Syosset. It's one wedding at a time. Cocktail hour is outside and there are waterfalls and a lake. There are also hotels all over up and down Jericho Tpke for your OOT guests. I think the place in Montauk that does the clambake is called the Crows Nest but Im not sure. It is definetly advertised though in Bridal Magazines. Pick up the Wedding Sites magazine it's nothing but catering halls and it gives you some details towards menu, price and accomodations. Good Luck

I second the Harbor Club!! I should have mentioned it before, I wasn't sure exactly what you were looking for, but it does seem to fit your criteria! I love it there, couldn't be happier

Re: LI Reception/Rhearsal Help

I am so torn- I originally wanted to do a destination wedding but have since shyed away from the idea b/c I want all of my family/friends to be able to attend.... so now I am trying to find the 'second best' but worried I wont be able to find a place that matches what I have envisioned....

I have looked into a lof of the wineries but many of them have music ordinances that require you to turn all music off by 10:30... I am just going to keep on searching until I find exactly what I want which in the end may just be a destination wedding

is anyone else having as hard a time as I am!!!

I think you are correct about the crows nest. I've eaten in their restaurant several times and the food is superb.

Since you originally wanted a destination wedding, have you considered doing one not as far from home- like Montauk or Newport? I believe the Crow's Nest is in Montauk and they do a weekend wedding package (RD Friday, wedding Sat., brunch Sunday) They're a vendor on this board if you want to check it out.

What about a place like Coindre Hall in Huntington/Lloyd Harbor (not sure exactly which town it falls in) or the Vanderbilt Mansion in Centerport. Granted, the hotel situation wouldn't be ideal, but those are certainly both sites that are somewhat off the beaten path and have wonderful views of the water. There are even public beaches around in which you could do your own clam bake. Anyway you slice it, you have some great ideas and they all sound like a ton of fun!

You might be able to rent out the Sayville Yacht Club.

Yup- that's the name of it. The Crow's Nest. They have the best lobster bisque known to man.
