LI Sound..Are they too 'club-ish' style? Any other DJ suggestions?

LI Sound..Are they too 'club-ish' style? Any other DJ suggestions?

So, I had a chance to see the LI Sound guys at the expo this weekend. I was impressed with their equipment and overall presentation. I am slightly worried that they might be a little to 'Jersey Shore' club style for me though. My fiancee and I are not club people at all. I do like some club style music for dancing and whatnot, but I also want a wide variety of styles, not at Z100 type of stuff.
Opinions other suggestions? I wasn't into the whole fist pump/snookie/situation references.

I am using After Hours. They seem very accomodating to all styles. They are vendors on here

Really? I haven't seen them, just looked through the websites and reviews, but we are the same way... we aren't clubby type people. I actually got that vibe from After Hours, I'm interested to see what everyone else thinks...

I'm booked with LI Sound and we are probably the complete opposite of 'jersey shore' style music lovers. Our MC is Scott, who is a nice Irish guy, who loves country music like us. I think it probably depends on who your MC is!

Yea, it was the impression that I got. I know they have awesome reviews and I am sure they are great, but I am just worried if they are too club style for us. They talked about what the DON'T play (chicken dance, various cleche 80's wedding music, hokey pokey etc..) but the only hint of what they do seem to specialize in was some oldies and club music and of course they are BIG into the light show. I did LOVE the steel drum guy though!!

This is good to know!! They didn't give that impression. I wish they had showcased their ability to cater to any style. They litertally had people in the audience fist pumping at the expo!!

we saw LI Sound and Variety Music at an expo way-back-when and fell in love with Variety ... they seemed to have better equipment and options. They gave us a great price and did an awesome job at the wedding itself

I HIHGLY reccomend Tommys Tunes! They can be as high energy or classic as you like. They were fantastic! My dance floor was packed all night and they played a huge variety of music. We wanted a very outgoing MC and that's just what we got. Although when it was time to be calm and more easy going (before dinner, cake cutting.. etc) he was just that too.

I gave them a list of do not play and only a few must play songs and told them even if it's on my must play and isn't working, swtich it up. I basically gave them complete control and I'm so glad I did. They 100% know what they are doing

my MC was Joe E.<3 Him!!!

Same! We are so not the 'fist pumping' type and that's why we loved LI Sound. They will play and be whatever kind of DJ you want them to be. If you want 'Jersey Shore' they will give you that. If you want '80's dance party', they will give you that.

We are also booked with Scott as our MC and FH and I just clicked so well with him and we are confident he is going to give us exactly what we are looking for the day of.

I am using Variety Music and Ray has been great so far.

I saw them at an expo and they were great. Definitely not jersey shore fist pumping!

Thanks everyone.. I guess my best bet is to schedule meetings with all of them and see who suits us best. At least now I know LI sound is not just club style! They really made themselves out to be though, they should switch up their presentation... if I didnt see everyone experience with them, i would have probably skipped them!

I met with LI Sound at other showcases and also in person. We are very low key, not clubby at all. We were working with Scott. They're actually pretty low key and professional. We were going to book them but we ultimately had to pass because of the price.

I don't think the showcase on Sunday was a representation of what they are always like. When you do a showcase like that you have to be as highe energy and in your face as possible, but in my other interactions with them, and reviews I've read, they seem to really 'get' the low key vibe.

I LOVE their sound system. I just needed to choose another vendor to save some $$$ int he budget.

It's funny I've actually seen Bravura in action and passed on them bc I felt they were too clubby and in your face.

Oh , also, I've been to a lot of bridal shows and almost EVERY DJ used Jersey shore characters as the sample bridal party. LOL

You have FM. I didn't think they were too clubby. You can tell them what to play. Your best bet is to go to a bridal showcase to see them in action.
