LI Vineyards

I am prying FH away from the TV on a Sunday next month to go to one of the vineyards on LI. Any suggestions as to which one has a decent tour and good wine?

Re: LI Vineyards

I am partial to Raphael...

beyond that,

Galluchio
Old Field (so quaint and down to earth!)
and
Pugliese are a few other favorites.

Have fun!

Re: LI Vineyards

Dh and I love Puglisi and Peconic. IF you can, try going to Briermere farms for some pie to bring home. Oh, and stop at the roasted corn stands. They are so yummy!!

Re: LI Vineyards

there is a new one called Roanoke- they give you CHEESE and bread and if you get a bottle of wine outside they put it in a nice ice bucket and they use riedel glasses!!

i suggest getting off at the last LIE exit and driving like 8 miles down main street. Make a left on Love lane and stop at the village cheese shop to pick up one of their cheese platters for $12 then continue on Love and make a left on Sound Ave.
Like 8 miles down on the left (in the West diretion) you will hit Roanoke Vineyards.
Get a good table with chair cushions and an umbrella unpack your cheese plate, order a the dry reisling/gewurstaminer wine and spend your afternoon there.

The setting/landscape is so pretty and the owner comes around and talks to everyone (a sopranos looking guy)

when you go home, you will make a left o sound ave an continue to see signs for the LIE. You will be avoiding traffic and you will be getting on the ramp at exit 69/70 inastead of 73 where the others come on. Roanoke is the most west vineyard. Also they stay open until 9pm!! The others 6 pm
have fun and FM me if you have any questions im there practucally every nice weekend
and

Re: LI Vineyards

WC I agree..Lieb has great cheese and crackers! But it's a bit more of a modern/funky setting. Goldi, the best thing you can do is just stay on the main road or drive up to the north road and just drive around and stop at random wineries. Don't plan to go to just one.

lieb, martha clara, peconic bay, raphael, osprey dominion are just a few of our typical favorites...good luck!
