Thanks for all the ideas. We may just rent a limo so no one has to drive.

My favorites on the north fork: Old Field, Corey Creek, Shinn (find it off the beaten track; it's worth it), Pugliese, Palmer, and Vineyard 48 (there are other ones I like, but those are my faves in terms of wine quality, beauty, and outdoor picnic areas). If you want a good tour, I'd do Water's Crest. The guy (Jim I think) is really nice; it's very small but he does a great tour and you might be able to sample a wine right from the barrel.
If you make it down to the south fork, my ABSOLUTE favorite is WOLFFER!!! Channing Daughters is great too.
IMHO: Pindar & Duck Walk are too commercial for me, too busy, and the wines are--to me--not as good as the other wineries. HAVE FUN!

my favorites are galluccio, macari, pelligrini, and of course paumanok. they are all beautiful places and you can bring or buy lunch for a picnic! have fun, wherever you decide to go.
