Limo dilemma/ question?

Limo dilemma/ question?

Hi guys, just wondering if it is possible to book a limo and not tell them it is for a wedding? Once you are in contract, no one can do anything, right? I am a little nervous to be shady like that but I think on principal it is ridiculous to pay more money for a wedding when there is no major difference in service. We have the money, but it is such a scam. They tell you, oh the driver wears a tux, to tell you the truth, do I really care. I doubt I will be taking pictures of my limo driver. It is such BS. But I don't think I am bold enough to pull something like that off. what do you guys think of the change in cost based on the type of occasion.

The limo driver typically brings the aisle runner too (not sure if you are getting married in a church) - personally, I wouldn't want the stress of worrying if they were going to retaliate once they discovered it.

i thought of doing that too. lol. When I first began looking at limos a couple months ago, I was sooo disturbed by the extra cost! I thought maybe i should just not say what the occasion is and then let 'em be all surprised on the day of. But then I decided against that. I'm not comfortable with lying and i wouldn't wanna be worried about it on the day of. Also they need to know your plans way ahead of time, so I think they would have been suspicious if I had told them that they need to drive me to a church and then a reception hall. lol.

I say, don't bother with it. Find a good limo company and just deal with the Wedding cost. I'm going with Camelot and they're really not badly priced at all. You can definitely find some companies that won't charge an arm & a leg just because it's a Wedding.

Thanks guys. I appreciate your advice. The principal is what boothered me. If you are performing the same svc (mostly), why should you get payed more? Because you want to cash in on the wedding business? I really don't plan on doing that, but it is so ridiculous.

for a wedding, I do think the limo driver does do a little bit more. For example they supply the aisle runner and the limo driver gets to the church early to set up the aisle runner. Then at the ceremony they dont just drop you off and wait. THey were in the hallway with me and opening the doors for the bridal party and helping out. They were the ones actually who were right behind me before I went and setting up the train on my dress to stay on perfect and open the doors for me to go. One of the limo drivers also helped all the guys out with their bouts and put it on them. They also had to take my flowers from the ceremony and bring it to the RH. SO they had to go into the church, get all of them and carry them and put them into the limo and then bring it out to RH.

But I do understand what you are saying. However, I wouldn't be able to lie lol bc its a lie they would obviously find out about the day they pick you up and if you are contracted for a regular day but its a wedding then even though you already paid, this wasnt in the contract so who knows if they can turn around and say you owe money and they can probably get it since this wasnt in the contract. Plus its kinda hard to lie about it sometimes lol. For example I needed a rolls to take me and my parents to the church, I think most limo companies would realize that i got a rolls royce on a saturday at 2pm, why else would I need it lol, then also need a party bus. PLUS you have to tell them where youre going so what would you say? For the party bus i needed them to pick up the guys first and take them to the church then right after to pick up my girls and take them to the church. So there was no way around it, i think they wouldve gotten the point if i said. Well i need a rolls royce at my house at 2pm, a party bus to go to another address and pick everybody up at 1:30pm then a drop off and then another pick up at my house and then to the same drop off as the first one. Then telling them I needed the limo's only until 7pm. Theres only one scenario for all of that and its for a wedding.

Our wedding ceremony and reception are in the same place. Thanks for the advice. We are not going to do that,a friend of ours did that for a cake, which is a bit different....

Re: Limo dilemma/ question?

Well, I wouldnt do that if I were you. I had 2 friends of mine do that, and one lost the limo upon arrival, the other had to pay up. The one that lost the limo had to take a taxi and private cars to the wedding.

She tried to do what you want to do. Upon arrival, company told them they have to pay for the wedding package. She refused and the limo left.

Other friend just paid the difference and finished the service happy.

From what I have seen, they charge you more for a wedding because of the time when it happens. Think about it. Most weddings happen on saturdays. People use limos from 12 PM to 7 PM depending on their setup.
They charge more because its peak time for them. Its just like buying airline tickets - airlines scam you for Thanksgiving, Christmas, NYE. WHY ??? that is a good question.

I think its because everybody wants service at the same time.

Why do RHs charge more on a saturday than thursday???? Its the same service - RIGHT??
So its all about the time when it happens. Time makes the prices go up.

My ceremony and reception are in the same place too and I was thinking about not telling them either - but I just want pick up/drop off service - literally about 10 minutes tops in the car - I mean I would walk if I was not in a dress - so figure it's just easier b/c I don't want a package. . but if they ask I'm going to be honest - just am not going to put it out there first

I think they will know when you give them the pick up and drop off times and locations? Also, when I was calling for quotes, they asked what occassion it was for?

I was told if there was a bride we would have to pay the difference, but the limo was a taxi service for my friends so we had no problem.

Well the limo bus is not for us, is for our wedding party. We are also thinking of renting a rolls for pictures, which will be for us. So we still pay wedding prices for a limo bus? Thanks guys, we are not going to do that b/c i would be too nervous, but it was a thought.

Re: Limo dilemma/ question?

I definitely appreciate the advice. Peak prices make sense, but I do not think that applies to this situation, exactly. I got quoted totally different prices, same evening based on prom, regular evening out (dirt cheap), wedding, all for Saturday evening. Also, weddings happen on Friday and Sunday as well, not peak still cost more. Otherwise, they would all cost the same on Sat, which would actually make sense and be ok. But thank you, I definitely do not want to stress out on that day, so i wasn't really going to do that. Just curious how others felt. On principle it bothered me.

it is annoying but I'm not sure what we can do about it.

I read in one of those budget wedding planning books to have black limos instead of white- this will save $$ since white is usually used for weddings. Haven't tried it out yet.

I did not get the aisle runner with my limo...

Re: Limo dilemma/ question?

I thought I was the only person who thought this way. But, in all honesty I would just tell them what the truth. When you call the limo company that is the first thing they ask, 'What is the occasion? And, you wouldn't want any confusion with you and the limo co.
