LIMOM - I finished the blanket

LIMOM - I finished the blanket

Here are the pics you asked to see! I am so proud of the blanket!!!! It is so thick and soft b/c it is worked using two strings of Lion Brand Homespun at the same time. It is sooooo warm too.

The blanket measures, with the edging, 54'x70'. Let me know if you want links to the pattern for the blanket and/or edging. I found it to be a really easy pattern. There are alternating rows where the stitching is raised, on both sides.

Sorry the pics are so bad and blurry!

I am using two patterns, primarily this one. The other one showed me how to make it rectangular. It will end up about the same size as yours. I too love how the double strands of HomeSpun yarn looks and feels.
I am crocheting it with the K hook, and it's the same stitch as the Martha poncho. It's going very quickly.

Did you knit it and add a crocheted edge? What size needles did you use?

Thanks so much for offering your pattern. If I hadn't started mine I would have taken you up on it. It's really pretty.

What are you going to make next?

Hey Mary! The whole thing was crocheted!
This was the main pattern for the blanket:

I think I used a 6.5 hook (don't know the letter)!

I'd love to see how your throw comes out. Will you post pics?

My next project is the Newlyweds shawl, like Jessica Simpson wore. I can't stand her but love the shawl! I have a wedding and a bar mitzvah to go to in June and don't want to be chilly and want to be covered up a bit more (dress has spaghetti straps) in church or temple! I just don't know what color to make it in...my dress is black. I know I could do any color but I'm not sure! Any suggestions?

Re: LIMOM - I finished the blanket

I'll post a picture of the blanket for sure. It should come out nice.

As for colors for this summer, my daughter just finished telling me metallics are really in. Would you wear gold or silver with the black? It should really look pretty.

I bought a bronze suit with rhinestone buttons to wear to a wedding in a few weeks. I was thinking black strappy shoes but she said gold.

Good luck. I'm curious what you decide.

Thanks!

LIMom, I'd probably do a silver, which is what I was thinking. I usually wear white gold. I think your gold sandals will look nice, esp. with gold jewelry!

Re: LIMOM - I finished the blanket

That's exactly the picture I had in my mind of your black dress - silver shawl with silver or white gold jewelry, or gold with yellow gold jewelry.

I found pretty shoes today in DSW that may work. They are a soft gold, not the bright yellow in-your-face gold.

The suit is that dupioni silk (is that spelled right?) and has rhinestone buttons. I was thinking jewelry to match the buttons. Do you think gold would be better?

Thanks.

PS... I got a lot done on the blanket today. It is coming out great. I can't wait to give it to my daughter. The yarn has grays and browns (Shaker HomeSpun) and her new sofa is brown leather. I need to find two shades of tan and brown for the border.
