Limos & tux question

Limos & tux question

I am getting married in August, and I'm wondering when I'm supposed to book the limos & tuxes. Also, should I trust my fiancee and his groomsmen to get them all on their own, or should we set it up for them to get all the tuxes at the same shop. We have seven people in the bridal party, and only two live in the area. As far as the limos are concerned, I wasn't sure when those should be booked. I'd planned to use the limo place at Chateau Briand, but I don't know how long I can wait before booking them. Any advice is appreciated.

I think you can book the limos now if you want. You don't want availability to be a problem later.

As for the tuxes, you can wait until the beginning of the summer to look at them, you'll get the most current styles available. If all the groomsmen can't get to the shop you order from, they can go to a local tux shop and they will measure the guys and send the info to the shop you picked. Its a courtesy they do for tux shops. If that's the case, try to arrange for the GM to try on their tuxes 2 days before the wedding in case any alterations need to be done.

We used bonaventure in franklin square for tuxes and would recommend them if you are looking for a shop.

I am getting married in August as well. I already booked the limo. If you know who are using anyway book them now.
As far as the tuxes, they should all be bought at the same place (to be sure they are exactly the same). My borthers (2) live out of state. Tell them to go to a local tux shop and get measured then the measurements should be sent to your tux place. Tux places do this as a courtousy(sp?) to other tux places b/c it happens all the time. (I didn't get tuxes yet)

There is also a great tux place in Westbury ... right near CB ... Elite Tuxedos. They have 2 stores ... the other in Brooklyn. They were fantastic ... we dealt with Bobby. They are right across the street from Fortunoff's ... look for the huge Wedding center awning.

GM paid $125 ea. incl. tax & everything was included. We were getting quotes of more than $150. Plus they do the alterations on the premises.

Anyone out of town can get measured & call in .... ( SO NOT FAIR!! Its such a process for us! ) So it's never a prob ... but you don't even need to think about it now ... wait till after the spring.

Re: Limos & tux question

book the limo now so you run less risk of them not being available. look around and you will have plenty to choose from. i recommend njl limo. we used them and they were great. i used bonaventure tuxedos in garden city. they were very helpful and accomodating, especially after what i put them through.

forgot to say: they will give you a little post card thing that you can give to the out of town people. they go and get measured whereever and the place should put the info on the card and you just drop it in the mail.

Re: Limos & tux question

AFter hours is a pretty good tux place to. FI rented a tux from there a couple of months ago for another wedding and they were very reasonable and he said it was comfortable.

You should start looking at limos now and book over the next couple of weeks. It's never too soon.

Thanks for all the advice! I'm getting married at St. Joseph's church on Franklin Ave in GC. It's been my family's church my whole life. We picked CB because it was close by, and a lot of our guests are from out of town. I'll try to talk my FH into looking at limos soon, but I know he's sick of getting dragged around to look at vendors.

Re: Limos & tux question

Mary,

I got married at Chateau Briand also. As for tuxes we used S & S in Hicksville, they were great! My husband has been using the guy there for years, he used to be a DJ so he used to rent alot and buy as well. As for limos I used ALexis Limo and they are great - very reasonable, and since you are getting married in one of there facilities they will give you a discount. They have all new cars (cadillacs). Let me remind you it poured on my wedding day and they were such a great help. The first limo company I had booked with screwed me out of money and ended up going out of business so i lost my deposit. So just be careful with who you use. If you have any ques. let me know. But yes Id suggest booking soon. one less thing you can get out of the way. If you choose to go with ALexis - ask for Steven - he is the manager there
