Lindenhurst Commute Questions

Lindenhurst Commute Questions

I just have a question because we found our dream home in Lindenhurst, and I just want to know what costs we'll have. The house we like is south of Montauk Highway.

I'm going to need to commute to the city. Now, is it better to take the LIRR in Lindenhurst or Babylon? I heard Babylon is better, but does that have a lot of parking available? How much is parking? Also, how much is it to take the LIRR each month? Does that include a Metrocard for subways also? Does the train usually run on time?

Sorry there's so many questions, but I just want to do my homework before I live there. Thanks!

Babylon is the main hub for the Babylon line. I'm on the same line, but get on in Massapequa, so I can't help you with the parking situation. The trains are usually pretty good and on time.

Your monthly ticket alone will be $239.00, not including subway. If you do the Mail & Ride program (they mail you your RR ticket every month so you don't have to wait on line to buy it.), you will receive a discount. Like if you do unlimited subway rides and the RR ticket, you'll save 10%.

Here's the LIRR website to give you more info:

Thanks. Hmm I wonder how much parking is. I just hope it's not an astronomical amount.

When I used to park in Babylon 3 years ago, it was $42 - $50 a month.

Oh. I don't know if it's easier to park at Lindenhurst.
