NEW YORK -- Lindsay Lohan, who was hospitalized in Miami this week for an asthma attack, tells Vanity Fair in an interview that she has dabbled in drugs and battled bulimia.
The issue hits newsstands next week.
The 19-year-old Long Island, N.Y., native said that after the success of 2004's hit movie 'Mean Girls, she dabbled in drugs.
But, she added, 'I've gotten that out of my system.'
Lohan also said that last year's drastic weight loss was due to bulimia.
Her bulimic condition caused her to lose so much weight that she scared her brother and sister, and forced 'Saturday Night Live' producer Lorne Michaels to stage an intervention.
Lohan told Vanity Fair that she knew she had a problem, but couldn't admit it until Michaels and Tina Fey stepped in after her appearance on 'SNL.'
When Lohan saw a tape of herself on the show she realized her arms were so thin they were 'disgusting.'
Lohan also admitted to suffering a breakdown while writing her song 'Confessions of a Broken Heart.'
Lohan, who became a breakout star with the comedy 'Freaky Friday,' co-stars in director Robert Altman's 'A Prairie Home Companion,' due in theaters in June.
She has been filming 'Bobby,' directed by Emilio Estevez, about the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy.
She is also set to begin shooting 'Chapter 27,' a film about John Lennon's killer, Mark David Chapman, in two weeks.
Lohan's publicist Leslie Sloane confirmed published reports that Lohan was hospitalized Monday night for an asthma attack.
Lohan was in Miami to celebrate New Year's Eve.
