does anyone do this? Is this a good deal? She told me if I was to connect service and take this I would pay 50.00 per month electric and 130.00 gas.. Is that good? I guess this price is based on the previous homeowners.. I have NEVER had to pay for gas so I am not sure if this is pricey or cheap..

you mean keep the budget that the previous owners had? no way.. you don't know how much they used.. start over anew and have them do a reading and then wait and see how much you get billed..

It's called balanced budget billing. We just started it this month. We wnated them to have at least 4 months of 'our' usage on file and use that as an estimate. It's working out really well with us with LIPA.

We have gas and I we pay like $15 a month for it. BUT we do not cook I am the worst wife!! We moved into this place in Sept and I think I have used the oven/stove 4 times total!!

After we moved in we noticed that our bill said 'estimated usage' instead of 'actual usage'. We requested that they come to read our meter b/c we are family of two v. a family of 4 who lived in the house before us! They based the bills on the prior family's usage.

It's is called balanced billing. They take the previous 12 months of usage and divide it ti equal monthly bills. They still read the meters every other month (As they do for regular billing) and will adjust the bb amount per month, up or down if need be. We chose to wait and get 6 months of our own usage in there first. But they will adjust it during the 12 month cycle if need be.

I called to do this and they said it would be $350 per month for gas and Electric! I was in shock - the previous owner showed me her bill and she paid $260 per month.
I decided to wait a few months to see what our usage is.

I should call ablut the balanced billing too. LIPA ended up owing us money. Guess they overcharged us a few months. We didn't have to pay the gas bill for about 3 months! I hate not knowing what the bill is going to be!
