Liquor

Liquor

We have decided to buy our own liquor for our reception instead of having the hall supply it.

But....we're not really drinkers and my hubby and I have no idea what to get. Should we just get beer? Kegs? Glass beer? Whats the norm? What liquor is popular? Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Liquor

Just so you know...Beer is not liquor. Beer is alcohol. Since I don't know which one you want - here is what I would get. BTW--No kegs at a wedding!

Bud
Michelobe
Michelobe Light
Coors Light
O'douls (non-alcoholic)
Corona
Hienieken
Amstel Light

For Liquor you would just need the staples:
Vodka (Sky, Absolute,Grey Goose)
Jack Danielle's
Seagrums 7
Southern Comfort
Bacardi

additonal usually used for shots:
Jaegarmeister
Schnapps
Goldenshlagger
blackhouse

There are tons more but hope this helped.

There is a much easier way to do this. Get your hall to give you a list of what they provide and then you pick and chose a few from their list and buy it! :)

Thanks! This has been helpful. So for beer... in the glass is better right? No cans and no kegs, right?

Re: Liquor

at a wedding i think it is preferred to have beer in a glass .. looks a little more classy then drinking out of an aluminum can or a keg but thats JMO ..
so i would say beer in a glass

Most people will probably drink wine and beer. But make sure you buy enough of the liquors - you will need more than 1 bottle of certain ones. You might want to ask the RH how many bottles they go through in a night of certain alcohols just to help you judge better. Also could ask your family what people prefer to drink!
Keep in mind you don't have to have the shot liquors if you want to keep people from doing shots. We have a no shot policy at our wedding.

i would say get alot of beer in bottles, geta variety of brands

also you are going to need hard liquor
soda and juice to mix it with
and wine

if you are having a champagne toast - dont forget the bubbly

yes!!! wine is all i drink at weddings... and of course champagne at a wedding is a MUST (people are going to want to toast you guys)... i think the list that jiffy gave along with wine is very good... i do think that malibu should be added though-- i know a lot of girls will appreciate that! you should have the stuff needed to make typical drinks too like cosmos, martinis, margaritas, daquiris, etc.

I was thinking the same thing...since you are both not really drinkers, why not let the hall do it. You are going to have to buy TONS of stuff, then get it to the hall and what not, I would just let them do it....IMO
