My hall charges a $20 per person consumption rate for top shelf liquor for the five hours, including cocktail hour. Since not everyone drinks, is this cost high???

Re: Liquor costs???
ok better ummmmmi don't really know if that is a lot because i never new halls did it sepaerately... well the way i see it if everyone had about 3 drinks than it would be worth it it depends how much you want to spend all together per person... thats a toughy! I don't know if that helps much...i tried i guess it doesn't seem like soooo sooooo expensive for top shelf

Thanks! I don't meet with the catering manager until next month so I really don't know what I am getting into
He told my dad that he is 1/3 the cost of other wedding halls. I am beginning to wonder!

Re: Liquor costs???
Our liquor is included in the price, we don't have to pay extra for liquor.

Well, I guess it depends on how much you are paying per person for food. Let's say the food per person is 40 dollars, then the liquor brings it up to 60 dollars a head, and that's still a really good price. I would find out the cost of food first. What's the cost if it's NOT top shelf liquor? And can you bring your own liquor in. Those would be good questions to ask. Because if you can bring in your own liquor, take a trip up to Massachusetts where you can buy liquor for CHEAP in Costco.

Re: Liquor costs???
I had this entire conversation with my family because I am bringing in my family's wine to Oheka (my family owns a winery on the north fork). Oheka has top shelf, but won't give me any discount even though I am bringing cases of wine. So it started this entire conversation about it. It is pretty important to have 'top shelf' because the catering halls that don't only buy very cheap alcohol. For example, they spend $1-$2 per bottle whereas top shelf may be more around $12 a bottle. I am actually going to my aunt and uncle's anniversary party at the rainbow room in August. Their kids who are throwing the party were saying how they had to spend extra to get the top shelf. I am pretty sure that it was $20 per person. So I guess the point of the post, is that top shelf is such better quality that it probably would cost a decent amount more.

Re: Liquor costs???
One place quoted me $100 per person for the reception and included in that was $25 per person for top shelf alcohol. If we wanted to do beer wine and soda only it was $20 per person. Hope that helps (we did not book with this place)

Re: Liquor costs???
our liquor full open bar is included in our 70 pp if your hall is 1/3 of that it would make them 23 pp which means they should only be charging 3 pp for food !!!
