LIRR trains

On the train schedule where it says to transfer at a station, do you wait on that same platformfor your connecting train? I never took the LIRR and I'm not too sure how it works.

most likely, if youre changing at Jamaica, you will have to change platforms.... theres info desks, and you can ask the guy in the booth what track it will be coming in on (but be very specific about which stop at which time)... also, there are electronic boards that say what the next trains are and what stops they make

When you get to the station that you are going to transfer at, as you pull in the conductor will announce which track you need to be on (if it is different) and which door to go out of. If you listen to the announcement it will be pretty easy.

Gail-

99% of the time, the train you are transferring to is right across the platform. There are electronic signs above the platform that tell you what train is on that track. When the train isnt directly across the platform, the conductor announces what platform the trains are on. You can always ask the conductor. They are all really helpful! Dont worry you'll be fine! :)
