Re: lisat, claud or any other CA brides/newlyweds

Al dragged me out here

Soon after we started dating, he left NY to get his masters at Stanford (in fact the night we first got together, he was celebrating his Stanford acceptance). Since our relationship was so new, we didn't really plan to stay together. But we made it through the ups and downs of two years apart, dating others, etc. and eventually starting talking about me moving out here (to San Francisco).

He's in product design (and engineering) and there's more opportunity in that area out here. I wasn't thrilled with my job in NY and was ready for a change. (I was working in 2 World Trade Center, so it was an advantageous move on MANY levels)

Its been 3 years now and we're thinking of heading back to NY in the next year or so. (I've been picking Claudine's brain on adjusting to LI life again). We love it out here but we have so many ties to NY - we end up flying back and forth A LOT (in fact we're flying in tomorrow for a wedding). Also, we want to be close to our families when babies come (which isn't planned for anytime soon).

This area also got hit VERY hard with the .com bust. (my co's announcing another round of layoffs in the next few weeks which may push up our move date.)

Its very different up here than in So Cal - one of the things I miss most is hot weather at the beach! Strange thing to say in CA but true. You won't have that issue.
