Lisat & JLF 41

I just realized I have the same dress as the two of you. I am so excited to see someone else with my dress.

JLF41 - I didn't like the cap sleeves on me either, so I had them add 3/4 length sleeves. I never really thought about taking them off completely. The dress should be next week. So if I don't like them......off they go.

how exciting! I'd love to see pics of the 3/4 length sleeves.

That makes a threesome! I am so curious to see how the 3/4 sleeves look. I have to say it looks amazing strapless- they did a great job. How funny that we all have the same dress but each with our own twist!

who makes the changes to the dress? the manufacturer or the bridal salon? And approx. how much does something like that cost?

Re: Lisat & JLF 41

Thank you ladies for your responses. I thought the same thing, how funny, same dress, three different versions.

I bought the dress at Bridal Reflections and they are having Jim Helm make the sleeves. Paying too much for the sleeves - $350, but no rush charge. To be honest, I was tired and just wanted to have the dress ordered. I loved the style of it the second I saw it, but the sleeves hit my arms in the most unflattering way. I have been dieting and working out since I bought it and now am wondering if I need to cover my arms after all. If I take the sleeves off, I am trying to come up with creative ways to use the extra material (the organza with the bead work) purse, etc.

Lisa, you looked amazing in your dress. I loved the way it bustled in the back. Hope you don't mind if I take a copy of your photo with me to the seamstress to copy it exactly. I think you said your dress was dark ivory, is that correct? It photographs so light.

Jessica, What color is your dress. Do you have a picture with no sleeves?

I promise to post mine as soon as it comes in.

Re: Lisat & JLF 41

the color is actually light ivory, but appears darker in person than in pictures.

the bustle was a french bustle and I think it had 11 points.

I was asking how you had the sleeves done since I'm considering ordering extra organza to repair the beading on the bodice. Hopefully it won't come to that since its a pricey way to go.

Can't wait to see your dresses!

Mine is light ivory also. Bridal Reflections removed the sleeves for me. I have pictures but I can't figure out how to download them from my camera onto the photo program on my computer. It is driving me crazy but I am working on it...

Re: Lisat & JLF 41

Lisa,
I read your post about the damage to your dress. I was sorry to hear about it. Hopefully your MIL can fix is to you don't need to go to the extra expense.

When is the ball? I will need to have the dress taken in and will have some extra material from the bodice.

Jessica - I have had my digital camera for months and have yet to figure out how to download. Once you do, I would love to see how it looks without the sleeves.

Re: Lisat & JLF 41

Carrie - the ball is this weekend. The damage to the dress isn't that noticable by anyone but me, so I'm wearing it 'as is' to the ball and then figuring out the repair after that.

I'm going to contact Jim Hjelm and see how much it would cost to get new organza for the bodice. My MIL would be able to do the work. If I can't do that, I'll just replace the missing pearls and crystals.

I want pictures from both of you!

Re: Lisat & JLF 41

Did either of you use any crinoline under your dresses? The dress has such a nice flow and it looks like neither of you do.

Re: Lisat & JLF 41

I wore a slim A-line slip that had some crinoline. I tried it with and without - I preferred the lines the slip gave to the dress.

Re: Lisat & JLF 41

just picked up a great pair of shoes that match 'our' dress perfectly! (I can't find the pair I wore on my wedding day ).

Anyway, found them at Macys - they're probably not something I would have worn for my wedding (more strappy and flashy), but figured I'd tell you guys anyway (are you both in light ivory?). I had a hard time dying my shoes to match the dress, so I was pretty excited to find these in the perfect shade.

They're Alfani Seda in Champagne $59 - 3 straps with rhinestones. Perfect for the ball!

Re: Lisat & JLF 41

Lisa,
I'm getting ready for the first fitting. Can you tell me more about the slip that you wore. Who makes it, where you got it etc. I don't want a big dress, and would like to keep the lines simple.

Shoes are one of the few items I have actually checked off my list. Well until I go to pick up my dress and reconfirm the color matches. Nina shoes I picked up at the after holidays sale at Bloomies.

I have been having all those wedding dress second thoughts lately while I wait for it to come in, and you and Jessica have now gotten my so excited about our dress! Thank You!

Re: the slip

Its by Merry Modes Bridal. I bought it online somewhere, don't remember exactly where. I think its this one:

which I found here: Wedding Shopper - slips

'The Perfect Empire slip makes the perfect silhouette for the high empire A-line gowns. This piece makes artful use of Lycra Spandex to create the wonderful outline. Additional features are a double skirt outlining of Nylon tulle ruffle, lace edging and a back zipper closure. Available in White or Ivory. '

Re: the slip

Now I am thinking maybe I need a slip. I went to my first fitting not even wearing a bra- but realized I really needed one after all. I am going to borrow the one my cousin wore for her wedding- one of those smooth bodice ones. Thanks for the shoe tip- I actually got mine also from myglassslipper.com. Here they are... very high but actually comfortable.

Re: shoes & slip

great shoes!

If either of you want to borrow my slip, you're welcome to. I think its a size 6.

Re: shoes & slip

Lisa, thanks for the offer, but I am pretty short and need to cut about 6' off anything I wear. Looks like a great website, and slip price is pretty reasonable.

Jessica, I love your shoes. Mine are pretty similar, with rinestones on the strap over the toe. Are you having Bridal Reflections do your alterations? What are you doing for a head piece/veil?

Wedding Shopper - Thanks LisaT

Lisa,
I just received my Empire Slip from Wedding Shopper. I actually ordered it over the phone than online. The person I spoke to was so friendly and helpful (she actually got out a tape measure and checked the waist measurements for me when I questioned the sizing).

I just received it and it is perfect.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND WEDDING SHOPPER for anyone looking for undergarments!

By the way, I loved your new pics of our dress.
