Hey all - just getting started here - first time here and first post. I have heard of this site tons of times and finally happy to be here! Got engaged 3/25 in Bahamas on a dolphin swim. The actual 'Flipper' brought me the ring! Lucky girl I am.
Anyway quick question, want to start looking at reception halls, I know they are all listed here, but is there a list that has a general note of their prices, I don't want to fall in love with pictures of it and waste my time going there if it is totally out of my price range. Any suggestions? THANKS

if you do a search a bunch of the girls have done a list with prices,, Just type it in the serach,,

I think there might be a list on the site with a small blurb about each place and price. BUT the prices seem to change quite often . Your best bet is to call the places directly for prices.
Oh, and haggle and negotiate! No price is set in stone!!

Take a look at the price thread on the 2007 board. As we've looked at different halls we've reported back and posted there. Just make sure that you look at the dates and times that the prices are for. They can vary greatly with the day of the week, time of day and month. Good luck with your search!

HI!! Congratulations and welcome to LIW. The list here is very general and also only lists LIW vendors. The LI Sites and Services magazine (you can get it barnes&noble/borders) really helped me out when I was looking. You can tell if something will be totally out of your price range. If you are flexible on dates and times you can also go to a place that might be more money- say a Sun afternoon vs. a Sat night in June, or a Sat. night in January or Feb.

When you call to set up appointments, you can also ask what their price range is for the time of year/week you are interested in so you don't have to make an unneccessary trip (unfortunately, I only did that at a couple of places so I did make two unneccessary trips and almost fell over when I heard the prices).

Thanks all - well I am looking at the end of next year - well end of wedding season anyway (September, October).
Do you have to make appointments to go check places out or can you just show up.
Do you think places will be open on Mother's Day (Next Sunday)

A thread was started in the 07 section, and it's pretty lengthy ...
I would call ahead and make appointments and I would imagine they will be open next sunday too. I also used a book called 'locations' that you can buy at Barnes and Nobles and it was really helpful. Also, if you are interested in a particular hall, you could ask on here what people are paying there. Everyone is pretty open here about things like that.
BTW: Kudos to FH with the creativity on the proposal! Good job!

Congratulations!!!!!! If you go to Fortunoff's bridal salon I believe they have a magazine with LI wedding venues for free. I had bought my copy at a local newstand. That is informative.

Definitely call ahead to make an appointment! Also, I wouldn't recommend doing too many in one day, I did 4 and was starting to get certain things about each one confused.
