listen to how my day went- one of my poor students..

had a seizure!! a little girl!! never had one, happened during our assembly with the Wantagh Fire Dept...they have a smokehouse which is a pretend room they can practice excaping from. she wasnt nervous and its not harmful. she went in- 2 seconds later they brought her out because she was pale and looked sick. I asked a parent helper to take her up to the nurse b/c i had to stay outside with my class. well she started to but the girl wasnt able to walk or talk i FLEW to get the nurse- we came back and the the fireman scooped her up to bring her up- the ambulance was called. they got me a sub and I stayed with her- her mom rushed to school and we BOTH went to the hospital. principal wanted me to go b/c mom was hysterical and the girl wanted me to go-(by the time ambulance got there she was conscious)stayed with her for awhile... I felt so bad for her!!!!

Needless to say it took my mind off of things going on in my life. when you are a teachet these kids become like your own and to see one of your own sick and crying, I felt so bad. But i held my composure!! all f the crying during the week- im all out of tears!

The little girl is ok but they are doing tests to make sure.

What a week!!!!

I know what you mean Kristi I am so happy that your prinicipal was understand enough to let you go to be with her and more importantly that she is going to be OK!

awww... how old is she? once a LONG time ago i was pretty young and i was at this family reunion thing and i was going back to the hotel with this chick who i THINK is my cousin (?) anyway, she totally started having a seizure and i didnt know what to do... i was sooo scared i thought she was dying. her eyes were rolling back in her head... i almost panicked, i was screaming for help and i think i almost attempted to do cpr! (i was YOUNG) anyway i know its a hard thing to watch... it stays with you.

Poor little girl, I am glad she's ok. I know it must have been a comfort to her to know that you care so much.

That poor girl, I am glad she's ok. Same thing happened to me in March.
Was driving down to Florida with DH and my whole family and at like 1AM I had a siezure. Ive gone through so many tests, its unbelievable. Believe it or not, they think (Drs.) it was a reaction to Aleve which I had taken earlier in the night.
Keep us posted on her. Let us know how all went!

I think you did a great job. That little girl will never forget what you did for her. She is lucky to have you as a teacher. Definetly keep us posted.
