Re: Listening to the Cure

I am bumping this b/c I was wondering if there were any Cure fans?

Janwinterbride how weird!!! I was at both concerts you mentioned and the weird thing is I remember a girl going up to the stage and giving him gladiolas b/c I remember thinking how he stopped singing for a brief moment and everyone cheered!!!!!!

I love the Cure too! And I'm glad to see the reappearance of this thread because it just so happens that I have an annoying Air Supply song stuck in my head. And I need to think of something else!

'If only I was sure... that the head on the door was a dream...'

I’m not as big of a Cure fan as I am a Smiths and Depeche Mode fan, but I still like them a lot. I love the song “Boys Don’t Cry”

BTW, does everyone have a favorite Smiths album? I love The Queen is Dead and Meat is Murder. Compilation-wise, I love Louder Than Bombs!

how can you ask me to choose??!!! I would say The Queen is Dead and Strangeways (Strangeways was when I was first introduced to the Smiths - I got that record for Christmas in 1987...so it holds a place in my heart)

I, too, am not a huge Cure fan

Another question – semi related…

Do you have a favorite song to dance to? One of those songs that if you hear it somewhere, you have to dance to it?

For me, my favorite is Sex Dwarf by Soft Cell. It always reminds me of going to the Pyramid and The Bank when I was younger. I also love Major Tom (Coming Home) and 99 Luftballoons!

And I almost forgot….Bigmouth Strikes Again!

big mouth is a must to dance...DH and I drove to a basketball game last friday and since we were talking about the Smiths here I decided to make him listen on our 2 hour ride...and then I explained the lyrics to him...and he was getting into it (hes a Pink Floyd, Led Zep type of guy)

I don't know the group off the top of my head...but I always have to dance to the Ya Ya song...

OMG...I LOVE THE SMITHS AND MORRISSEY!!!

I am the last of the famous international playboys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know if I can pick a favorite album or a favorite song...especially from The Smiths...I have too many favorites...

But, Morrissey's first solo album is definitely my favorite of his solos...

Re: Listening to the Smiths...

heres one of my favorite songs to dance to:

Tones On Tail
GO!

Living it up is a big kick its good for you,
Watch the big freeze slip, crack the jackpot
Get out of control
If you put yourself down
You'll never win, get out of that hole
Keep your mind open, your head up
You'll never, ever get old.

*
GO!!
*

Your whole world could change
If only you just broke through
'cause your fears are doing nothing for you
Keep your head up, your mind open
You'll always come through
'cause living it up, it's a big deal
It's good for you

Swap your dull grey thoughts
For fierce demands you can stand up to
Don't put yourself down, you'll never win
So let's all smash through
Through the fear of being real
Through the fear of being really you
'cause living it up is a big deal
It's good for you.

*
Alright - lets do the Ya Ya's now then...
ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya yaaaaaa

Listening to Depeche Mode now…

I want somebody to share
Share the rest of my life
Share my innermost thoughts
Know my intimate details
Someone who'll stand by my side

and give me support
and in return
she'll get my support...
she will listen to me
when i want to speak
about the world we live in
and life in general......

(this song makes me BAWL!)

This used to be my all time favorite song! Now I'm going to go play my old DM CD
