Littering

Please someone let me know why smokers think its OK or not considering littering when they drop their BUTTS all over?!

I agree. I hate it when people either fling their cigarette out the window while driving or empty the ashtray on the side of the road during a red light.

The flingers... I swear sometimes I wonder if landed in my engine because I can always smell the cigarette when they throw it.

eww - me too! I get so mad at those people. You have an ashtray for a reason - use it and throw your butts out! I also hate when I go places and the sidewalks are littered with cigarettes, yet there is a trash can a foot away. ugh

if the cops started to ticket these people for littering there would be alot more money in the local government from the fines...and people would start to get the message that it is littering.

I think these people actually belive its not littering becasue its so small.

and really, what are you doing still smoking after all the warnings anyway?

THESE people???? You guys are stereo typing it is soooo annoying.

And YES, we know it is bad for us, we are not all ignorant and uneducated. Some of your responses astound me.

Lately when I go to the beach I bring an empty plastic bag with me and fill it up with discarded trash and cigarette butts around me. Complaining alone doesn’t help the situation.

What bothers me more is when people just leave their wrappers on the subway floor. I sat across from 2 ladies that were just making a pile of corn nut, cokes, hot tamale and taffy wrappers. I finally spotted an actual uneaten piece of taffy on the floor, went over picked it up and handed it to one of them and said 'I think you dropped this.'

Sadly, I don't think they understood my passive/aggressive approach.

Now you have the right idea, if you don't like something, do what you can to fix it instead of just Bit**ing.

ugh! my g0d! i've always had a pet peeve for whenever i see it tossed onto the ground! i think the smokers think it's 'cool' .. but it's so totally NOT! i understand that there's no ash tray at each corner block but if you need to smoke bring your own darn ashtray and save the city from looking like filth! it's a bad habit anyway. just kick it. =P
