Re: Livid re: invitations

honestly your invites even with being hand cancelled get fed through a machine (second one) but its not as 'harsh' as the first one that cancells the stamp. They run usually a zip code/bar on the bottom for a route number. That being said typically your invitations don't get too destroyed.

That is why its really not best to have things sticking/bumping out of a envelope because in the end it does need to go through one machine to be sorted and that will destroy it.

Sorry for the problems with hand cancelling - USPS must hand cancel anything you request.

Only reason i know this is because i had worked in a mailing house.

i know....my aunt is a manager at a branch on LI so i obviously spoke with her first (shes the one who called asking why they weren't hand cancelled)....so she is guiding me on what to do. Supposidly this is a 'new' employee who we dealt with and he didn't know any better...but he knew enough to lie about it when confronted with a manager?!?!?!?!?!

go look into different post offices and see who will hand cancel.

I go to NY post offices and I live in NJ. I love the pearl river PO because they are amazing and very accomodating even though I live in NJ.

I stood at the Floral Park post office for 45 minutes doing my own because the lady told me 'they don't do this'. As I was standing there doing it, I was making comments out loud like 'I should get paid for this, I'm doing your job and you people are just sitting on your a$$.' I was so P I S S E D and I did call and make a complaint. They HAVE to do this if you ask!

Re: Livid re: invitations

post master is supposed to call me tomorrow. I have one of the ruined invitations....i am ready and willing to go down there and show him. This one is really jacked up too..crystals popped out...everything. I feel bad for the lady who did them too...she put an enormous amount of effort into them!!!!

Awwww....I'm really sorry that happened to you. What an jerk that mail clerk was. I would bring in the damaged invites and get some kind of compensation.
