Living arrangements

How many of you live with your FH? If you don't live with your FH when do you plan to move- before or after wedding?

FH and I currently live with my family- but have no privacy (we basically just share a room). I like it now because we don't have to pay rent, but I know once we are married we will want our own place. I don't know if we should try to find an apartment before we get married or after. We want to save as much money as we can, which is why we have been putting it off. I also hate the idea of spending so much on rent (unavoidable I know). I would love to save for a house, but feel as if that would be extremely difficult while spending so much on rent & student loans (such a killer). I think I'm also nervous about leaving my family. I am extremely attached to them and have lived with them for 25 years. So basically I have never been on my own before. Has anyone else felt like this?

Right now fh and I don't live together at all. We both live at home with our parents about 2.7 minutes away from each other lol. We plan to move into our own place before the wedding probably a month or two before. We definitely don't want to come back to one of our parents houses after were married but we also want to save as long as possible. Hopefully it'll be a house we bought, but more likely an apartment we rent lol

Haha I want to save as much as I can too! Right now all the savings are for the wedding, but we should have all the money we need soon so that we can start saving for other things. Do you plan on staying in the are you are now?

Living arrangements

We lived at his parents for almost a year to save up to buy a place it was well worth the headaches and lack of privacy. Before that, we lived at our respective parents homes for about a year and a half.

Living arrangements

I was in a long distance relationship with FH for 5 years! I lived on Long Island and him in Connecticut. So finally I decided to make the leap and move to Connecticut which was extremely difficult since I'm very close to my family and my mom is my best friend. At first it was hard moving out of my parents house but living alone with FH is honestly so much better. Now we have had our own place for 5 months :)

Living arrangements

FH and I have been living together for about 4 months. He needed to move closer to work. My job was still super far, but since then I lost my job and have been on the hunt for a new one closer. We wanted to live together before the wedding, mainly because we lived on opposite sides of Long Island for our 3 year relationship.

Living arrangements

I moved in with my FH after a month of dating! It was because of circumstances not because I really wanted to. We lived together for 9 months then I moved back in with my mom for 6 months and we were so miserable we really missed living together so I moved back in.

Re: Living arrangements

We are split between having the upstairs of his parents' house (it's huge) converted into an apartment or finding something. We already started the search so we'll see what happens. His parents like the idea of converting the house because it's too much space for just two people and they would hate to sell it. We'll see what happens.

Living arrangements

FH and I have lived together for a little over a year now. When we first met he was living with 2 roommates and I was living with my parents. A year later he moved back in with his parents due to his roommates changing their living arrangements. He was home for a year and that's when we decided to move in together. We rent right now but will start looking for a house sometime after the wedding.

FH and I still live in our respective homes, but after the wedding we'll move into our new house we bought back in June :) the whole wedding process is so stressful, I don't want to be locked in close quarters with FH arguing of our wedding budget. Lol our separateness for now is OK for me.

I have lived with FH for a year and a half in an apartment in his aunts basement. We get complete privacy with the benefit of very cheap rent so we can save.

We have livHed together for about 3 years now. We each owned our own homes when we met. His house finally sold back in February. It was not easy convincing himto move to Queens, but now that he has a parking spot he loves it lol. After we are married we will start looking for a house together that is ours.

Living arrangements

FH and I live in an apartment at his parents house. We pay his dad rent and for the most part privacy isn't an issue but there are times where its annoying and people just walk right in. Sometimes if FH is playing xbox his dad will make a comment because our living room doors are connected and he can see in. Also FH gets nagged about doing yard work, yes I understand that it his is parents house and he does do stuff but the nagging and comments can be irritating. I think after the wedding our goal is to start looking for a place where we are alone. Technically we can stay here if we wanted and there is no rush to leave since his mom is now in a nursing home because she had a brain aneurysm. :( :( :( It is a big house and his brother has an apartment upstairs his dad on the main floor and we have a side/basement apartment. It works for now but we don't see us staying here forever. Ok Vent session over... :)

We currently both live at home with our parents to save money. I'll be moving in with him and his mother in the next couple months until his mom can sell their house, and then we will try to time that right with purchasing our own home

I refused to live with him until there was a ring on my finger. He proposed a month before my lease was up, lol! I think maybe you should find a place a few months before your wedding that way you can settle in.

FH and I have been living together for three years. He had is own apt as I did mine but his apt. was bigger. He asked me to move in with him and we kinda did a trial run. It was a huge step for me to move in with him because I lived by myself for years and I'm some what OCD. Lol. We lived together for a little over two years and then moved into our new apt. and we love it!

Living arrangements

FH and I have been living together for 3 years in his parents house, so we have been throwing around the idea to move out and either rent or buy. Buying scares me because we are getting married in less then a year now but if we have the money it's a good investment. So not sure what to do, just know we are ready to move out soon.
