uhh i dealt with a situation like that, but it wasn't a family member. I couldn't handle it emotionally, (it was a bad situation) so i told someone who could. she got the help she needed. she seems to be ok now, but i don't keep in touch much anymore. anyway, he def needs to see someone. has anyone talked to him about seeing someone?

If I'm not mistaken, he is seeing someone. When my father was alive, he and my mom were in marriage/family counseling, and my brother went to that counselor regularly. I thought he still goes, at least sometimes. I just don't understand. He works 2 jobs, and he still manages to keep up a 3.0 GPA in college. He has a new car, and no responsibilities in the house with my mother. Sounds like a good stand up kid, right? It just doesn't make sense.

Depression, and those types of problems never make sense. It's completely out of his control to feel that way... he could have a million dollars and do whatever he wants, but will still feel those feelings (without the proper help)
if he's seeing someone, i would just make sure he knows you're there for him to talk or whatever, and keep checking up on him. Sometimes just by regularly checking up will make him not feel so alone... (i hope this makes sense) also, a lot of times they feel like they are the only ones going through it, i wouldn't try to understand, just be there.
