LIW question

LIW question

i have a stupid question. . . on everyone's profiles i have noticed that most people put 'booked!' or 'done!' next to the vendors, instead of names. I didn't think anything of it - some people are just private. . . but then i read a review from a bride that said some people cancel other bride's vendors!

so i was wondering. . . is that why most brides choose to hide their vendors? Or is it merely a personal preference?

TIA

Re: LIW question

Unfortunately I was burned by a fellow LIW girl who was best friends with FH's crazy ex-wife. She made up a screen name and everything I posted on here she gave the details to psycho girl. It caused mucho drama and it's just not worth the aggrivation. Fortunately FH and I had the opportunity to move our date up and she does not have ANY of those details. It still makes me mad though because everytime I booke with someone I have to give them the speech that if they ever get cancelled it is to be done by me in person. It's pretty pathetic and embarrassing.

Edited for spelling.

OMG!!

I just thought people were concerned with privacy in general, I never realized that someone had been sabotaged!

I'm sorry that happened to you!! I guess it's a lesson for us all, not to say too much. You never know who's reading after all.

Yeah when I first joined in Jan. there was someone who posted a 'Beware' kind of thread that people take your info and contact that vendor.

To me it was not worth the aggravation since this is a public site

Re: LIW question

That happened to me and I posted awhile back. Someone pretended to be me and tried to cancel my reception site. Luckily they know me there and called me back and questioned me about it. It wasn't me, so i came on here to warn people. I heard it was done to previous brides with their photographers, so to be safe, I removed all my info.

i can't believe that !!
don't your vendors need it in writing if you are cancelling, when i changed something at the hall i had to go out there so they could write it down and i signed it,
some people are just so mean spririted

Re: LIW question

Oh I believe it. I had a friend who worked at a RH as a Banquet manager and she had a bride cancel the wedding the day before, so she thought, until the bride showed up later that day to drop off her favors. Turns out, the groom's ex called everyone, from the RH to the travel agent, to cancel everything. The ex left a message at the travel agency so that's how they knew who it was. How sick is that? Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, huh? But hello? Get some self respect!

That is horrible! There is something wrong with some people. Yes we all want the wedding of our dreams-but who would actually want to take that away from another bride????????

I had all my vendors posted until a bride mentioned that someone had tried to cancel her vendors. I called all my vendors to make sure everything was still in place, then promptly removed them from my profile. They will all go back up after the wedding.

Re: LIW question

I kept most info off until after my wedding. I did mention vendors on some posts, but never in my profile. There were some warnings a few times during the course of my planning. The hard part was that b/c I withheld a lot of personal info, I really didn't get to know many other brides until after my wedding. It was only after I started to talk about my vendors, post pictures, etc. that I became friendly with so many people here!

Re: LIW question

Wow I had no idea that was why. When I was planning for me, a bunch of girls got into arguments over a few popular vendors. Some got very mixed reviews, and it turned very ugly. A lot of us just put stars in our profiles until after the wedding date (and some never put the details back in).

I cannot imagine anyone taking a verbal cancellation. That is just crazy. sorry to anyone who had to go through that
