As a NYC bride technically (both FI and I grew up on the Island and our families still live there) I was originally thinking I would rely more on the Knot for info and while I do find some things helpful, I find the reviews and candid attitudes here much more helpful. What do you ladies find you use more on the knot features or search wise and what here on LIW.

IMO, LIW is better for getting info from other brides. I have posted things on The Knot, and had only negetive results and very few of them. I have had more response at LIW, and much more information from other brides. The Knot, I find, is nice for doing searches of dresses. Other vendors (photo, flowers, etc) have been easier to search for on LIW.
Again, that's all my opinion.

honestly...when it comes to pulling info and articles the knot works....but i dont really go on it...and wait u could put together ur own mini website from the knot...hmm LIW how about that idea?
but LIW has real tips and advice and stories, from real brides...and thats what I find more useful...the knot has all that too...but its like pulling teeth to get thru the chats and collect info.

I used to use the Knot exclusively because I didn't know better The search function on LIW is so much better because when I search on the Knot, I pull up things from all over the country. I also like that LIW has Forum Mail rather than having to 'page' someone. I do wish that we could have little 'bios' on here, but I like that we can actually post pics in our messages.

i only like the Knot to read the posts, i don't ever post a question. there are 2 many different cliques on the knot and i agree there are too many negative posts. i count on liw for the brides-to-be honest opinions.

If by negative posts you mean catty, from what I've seen it's mostly on boards like Planning & Etiquette. The local boards are pretty tame--at least considering what was going on today on the NWR board!
