Ouch - never use the back button on a dynamic site. No wonder some are having concerns.

What you want is already here and much easier. Look at the top of the page where it says

Wedding Forums > Not Wedding Related > NWR > LIWeddings-I love the new site but-Too much work is involved now to go back to thread after you reply to someone

There is navigation in the words.
Click NWR and you are there.
Click Wedding Forums and you go there too.

Try it!

When we reply to a thread you have to click the 'back' button a few times in order to return to the Newlywed thread page (for example).

Can we maybe just have a 'return to thread' button?

But there's a quick navigation link at the very bottom - you scroll to the forum you want. (I don't really understand the navigation problem either. It's just different/new - it will take getting used to.)

ETA: And what Ron said too! The top navigation is just as easy.

yup the navigation at the top is so easy .. it breaks it down for you and you can just click where you want to go. i think it's pretty simple

In regard to the nav - with all the new boards everyone wanted (and we supplied) there isn't enough room in the subnav for them. Thus, a new and different navigation.

Any suggestions, I'm all ears.

The only new board I saw is the Crafts board. The navigation is a bit of a pain in the tush. Worse, however, is that when I try to insert an emoticon in my post, everything I've written gets deleted! Only happens at work, not at home. What the heck is that about??

the navigation problems I have are not being able to quickly get to the other boards. Having to scroll down the page to the 'quick navigation bar' is not quick to me. At the very least, it should be on the top of the screen as well.

The top menu / tab bar, as it stands right now, adds a lot of extra clicking around.

Clicking on newlyweds in the top bar to go to a title/summary page is wasted time. There's no need to see that page everytime.

Since you asked for suggestions...

my recommendation would be to use mouse over menus. When I put my mouse over 'Not Wedding Related' in the top bar, all the sub-categories would appear as options (Parenting, NWR, etc). I could then choose exactly which board I want to go to (with no extra screens in the way).

you would think since I was an english major I would know how to spell...nope!

yea we need a 'OH $H!T the boss is coming' button.

oooh and a 'you have forum mail' ding, bell or pop up to tell us when we have FM so we dont have to keep clicking on mailbox to see if we have anything new

maybe a dancing monkey on the top of the screen would be amusing too

I didn't see the bottom navigation links - that should come in handy.

LIW - please don't think we don't appreciate this! I love the site and change is always good (sometimes it just takes a little getting used to )

ifyou look at the top it says:

each one of those sections is clickable. if i click on Wedding Forums it'll take me to the main chat page. If i click on NWR it will take me to this category.

it's really easy, much easier than the navigation thing at the bottom i think because you don't have to scroll down.

don't click on the wedding chat | newlyweds | Not wedding related .. that's much more work. Just click on the categories in green at the top underneath all the buttons (Home, My Account, etc)

How about a drop down bar when you put the cursor over wedding chat or NWR so instead of having to load a new page, you can just select off the menu

Olga - thats EXACTLY what I suggested

Sonia - the navigation you describe is helpful for navigating the board you are - I like that, but it doesn't help getting to the other boards.

I can't get to the other boards without extra clicks and pages, even if I use that.

Say I want to go to Newlyweds, so I first have to go to Wedding Forums (?), THEN click on Newlyweds!

I can't go directly from one board to the other UNLESS I use the navigation bar inconveniently located at the bottom.

Lisa well said. It's not that its hard to scroll to the bottom but is all this extra clicking user friendly for someone whose at work--not really!

cp - its not 'hard' to scroll, just inconvenient. Especially on the pages with LONG threads

Is there any way we can see past replies on a thread when we post a reply on a thread? Right now, when you hit reply you only see the last posted response. Sometimes I want to reply to someone who posted a few responses up, but forget who wrote what and have to go back to the original before I reply. Does that make sense?

go to the post of the person you want to reply to and hit reply in their box instead of on the last reply. whichever post you hit reply on will show up. does that make sense?

i think you mean you want to see more than one response though when you reply .. that would be nice.
