LIW...more than just a website...

Original post by SummerBride10

Warning: REALLY sappy post.

To me, LIW is more than just a wedding website. I've become friends with so many people through this site. People who I know will be invited to my wedding next year.

Last weekend, as some of you may already know, my grandfather passed away. My family is extremely close and its been a very hard week for me. My grandfather (or as I called him 'Papa') was a huge family man. He and my grandmother had been married over 50 years, with 5 children and 14 grandchildren. He was the sweetest, most caring man with a wonderful sense of humor. In the 23 years I've known him, I've never heard him yell once, never even heard him curse. I recently heard a story about him. He was working in the Bronx when he was younger (maybe 20's/30's) and a mugger held a gun up to his head and told him to give him his wallet. My grandfather asked, 'Can I please at least keep the pictures?' That was the kind of man he was.

The point of this post is to thank all the support from the LIW girls. Many of you read on my facebook what happened. Thank you for all of the support and condolences. Thank you for the text messages and FM's. Gaby, John, and Jackie, thank you for coming to the wake. Teri, thank you for the card. Some of you, I haven't even met, were kind enough to send your love and that meant so much to me.

It's great to know that I've made some great friends through this website- that are there for me during the hard times.

This morning, I was thinking about the stupid drama that went on a week or two ago, and how mundane it is now. I'm sorry to anyone I ever hurt or said anything wrong to. Looking back, there are so many more important things in life than the silly things people say on a website. I hope anyone I may have hurt or said something wrong to, can forgive me for getting involved in any drama. I want to be more like the person my grandfather was: he was kind and caring, and never fought with anyone, he didn't let the little thiings bother him.

While we might act silly...girly...gossipy..and even btchy- its great to know there are so many girls (and guys!) on this website that are here for each other in times of need.

Thank you for reading this- sorry it was so sappy. I really do love you all! Coming onto LIW really is my saving grace during the hard times.

Just an aside from the groom... Meeting him and speaking to him these past couple of years, I cannot describe how great a person he was and how great a family I am marrying into... I would like to thank all you guys because seeing Colleen and how she reacted this week to the well wishes from many of you, it really did make a difference... It is great that we have made such good friends on here and I am looking forward to hopefully making more starting this weekend....

Awww so nice!

I am sooo sorry for your loss esp since he was a great person

I know the feeling when someone passes away you realize how silly things can't be and how certain things don't really even matter.

Again I am sorry for your loss but you will get through this and all of us will be here for you!!

I am sooooooooooooooo sorry about the loss of your grandpa. My (and my cousin soontobebruz's) grandpa passed away a year ago this past February and it was the hardest thing I had to go through in my life. I don't want to get into how I felt about my grandpa bc I will get very emotional since I still miss him so much, so I definitely know what you are going through. FM me if you want to chat.
