Would anyone or has anyone taken out a small loan for the wedding? I want to book places but, afraid we don't have enough to do all deposits for right now.

Re: loan
i think it would depend on what your financial situation is... if you have a car loan, student loans, or a mortgage right now... i would say no.... too many loans is not a good thing.
there are many places that require minimal deposits to book. i think we only spent less than $2K in deposits which was great because it gave us time to save. also our hall required nothing until 6 weeks before so we had over a year to save.

Re: loan
i dont think taking out a loan for this is a good idea. not having the money readily available may be a gentle sign that perhaps you should scale things down a bit.
maybe take on a side job or something else. a loan will put extra unnecessary stress on you all later.

You could also look into halls that have complete packages. This way you are only making payments to one place and it keeps the costs way down. We are getting married at Brentwood CC and they only required a $500 dp and that was for the hall, florist ,dj , photos and limo! We then made a small payments every three months or so.

I wouldn't suggest a loan especially if there are a number of items on your financial plate. We don't have enough for all the deposits so I focused on the RH & did the deposit for that. Next year we'll do the other deposits & in the meantime I'm focusing on making allot of the DIY items.
A number of people were astonished that we booked for 2 years out but I REFUSED to go into debt for a wedding & we want to save for a house. We had to do what's best for us.

Re: loan
I was thinking that after putting down money on hall we could take out a small loan, not for all of it, and make dwons on the vendors. Then what ever is left after the wedding use the money and pay the rest off. I'm always worried about money, single mom!

I think it depends on what small means. If it is a couple of thousand, then yeah--go for it...if it is 10K...I would think about it...you do have some time to save...my engagement was only 6 months and FH and I worked our azzes of to pay for everything in cash...it came out to 16K. We kept the guest list small, our HM local... I worked 6 days a week and nights, but it is almost here and paid in full!
