loan

Would anyone or has anyone taken out a small loan for the wedding? I want to book places but, afraid we don't have enough to do all deposits for right now.

i know its tough when you don't have a lot of money and want to put deposits down and such---but IMHO i would NOT take out a loan in any shape, way or form. having the wedding of your dreams is important and everyone wants it....but starting out your life in debt is like getting up to bat with 2 strikes against you.

sometimes you have to stand back and look at all your finances and decide whether or not you can afford the wedding you want....and if necessary make some cuts. this site doesn't really help, cause we see so many amazing ideas from brides all over the place and we want to do the same thing. that happened to me a few times, but there were points where i had to realistically say 'i can't afford that'. in the end, we still had an amazing wedding--and we did what we wanted with the money we put into it, and didn't borrow anything.

on the big day, DH and i were able to look around at our reception and just say 'We did this!' without worrying about paying off huge loans or anything.

like i said, as a word of advice, i would not take out a loan for a wedding. there are much more important things in life you should take out loans for, and weddings aren't one of them.

Perfectly put Melissa. I know that many girls take out loans to pay for their wedding ( I work with one who plans on doing that)..I can never see myself taking out a loan for a wedding. For that I go to City Hall and get married..JMO please no one take offense. I agree with Melissa that you dont want to start your married life with debt...its just not cool..so I vote against it. But at the end, its going to be up to you. If you HAVE to have the wedding of your dreams and that means taking out a small loan, then go for it. Do whatever makes the both of you happy.
