thinking of having a backyard lobster bake for rehearsal dinner. Has anyone ever done this? Is it hard to pull off? I would have about 30 people. How much should I expect to pay?

That is a great idea. You'll have to figure out what food/drinks you will buy to figure out the cost but I would think that having a backyard RD must be cheaper than doing it at a restaurant. You can also ask your mom, FMIL or BM's to bring an app or dessert to help with costs. Good luck!

Personally I think that's sounds great but it all depends on when ur RD is.. If its the day before I would not suggest it cause it's gonna wear u out and I think u should be fully rested for ur big day!

Good point! It will probably be a week or so before the wedding. I personally don't want to have any plans or things that need to be done the week of!!! Also, I have been looking into lobster bake companies that come to your house, set up, cook, and clean up! I have to get definite quotes, but it ranges from about $30-50/person depending on the menu.

My church said they normally do rehearsals the night before but prolly could change it. I told FH that will be my bridezilla moment if they don't. I think that's A LOT of work to do and then by the time it ends... I def would not sleep a wink before my wedding!

We looked into a lobster bake for our engagement party and was about $30-50 pp like you're finding. We also saw that a lot of places required a minimum of 50 meals to come and do it so check for that too. It ended up being too expensive but sounds so delicious

I did a lobster bake for my wedding and we paid $50 per person, but that included passed appetizers and each person got a net full of mussels, clams and shrimp and we used a really good seafood restaurant.
Each person got a lobster, net, potatos and corn and we did mini lobster rolls and crab cakes (amongst other things) for appetizers. People are still raving about it and it was SO much fun!
