Local Mini-Honeymoon

Local Mini-Honeymoon

We aren't taking our real honeymoon until December since I'm a teacher and FI will be in school, so I'm looking for nearby places for a 3-4 night vacation in August.

We put off booking this and called a few places today and they are all booked for our date, so now I'm getting worried.

Any reccomendations?

New Orleans is great. So is Charleston or Miami. I always stay at any Ritz-Carlton.

Thanks for the suggestions, but we're lookingfor places within about 2-3 hour driving distance.

Ceasars Pocono Resorts is a 2 hr drive.

Paradise Stream is my favorite.

Hmm.. what about a nice hotel in the city? August is a good time to stay b/c rates are lowest. Or, what about Montauk or the shore somewhere? Fire Island or Shelter Island (Rams Head Inn is nice there), Atlantica has a spa/hotel in it in West Hampton, Gurneys Inn is nice, and there are a ton of Bed and Breakfasts on the island.

Boston is an idea, as is the Jersey Shore. Or, any B&B in Mass or CT.

Seriously check this place out - my father has a number of collegues that go there - I have been there a few times and had a great time.

Steven King goes there to write. They filmed a few movies there - The road to wellville was filmed there

Block Island is very nice, but alot of the inns are very pricey, and most are probably sold out by now....You can take the ferry to Block Island from Providence, rent bikes or mopeds and explore...I would suggest renting a hotel in Providence....there is TONS to do there in the summer...you can do a day trip to Newport or Block Island, or if you want to drive about an hour, to Cape Cod....they also have this in Downtown Providence, select nites in the SUmmer, and it is very cool, romantic, and free!!!
