Location for engagement photo shoot???

Hi all,

FH and I need to schedule our engagement photo shoot (present from my parents), and I need ideas on nice locations. We are willing to look at NYC/SI/NJ/Brooklyn. I just want a nice, unique location with interesting scenery, whether it's flowers or buildings.

The more ideas the better! Thanks!

While this isn't an original idea, I think Central Park always makes a great place to take photos!

It is, but our very close friends who are getting married this September, are having their engagement shoot in central park. We have virtually the same group of friends who will see these photos, so I am looking for something different from what they will have.

I just had my shoot this past Monday at Gantry Park in Long Island City. It was incredible!! We had an amazing view of the NYC skyline, areas with gardens, areas that looked beachy, sections with cobblestone streets...I highly recommend it.

Is there a fee to shoot there?

Brooklyn: Astroland, streets of Williamsburg

Manhattan: Soho, the Village, Times Square

Staten Island: SI Zoo

Astroland no longer exists in Brooklyn for years now. But Coney island has transformed itself and has a two brand new theme parks, Luna Park and Scream Park.

Anyway, that area is great for fun photo ops as it still has alot of the old world boardwalk architecture and colors mixed with the modern. And you can take pictures on the beach and maybe pictures with the people from the Freak Show. A friend of mine got hers done around that area and they were beyond fabulous.

In addition, you have Dumbo, Brooklyn which is filled with very artsy spots to take photos. Alot of brides here, including myself, has taken pictures there.

i beleive there is/ i did my eshoot there and when i had called the week before they told me no. when i got there, some puffed up park ranger gave us a hard time. she almost didnt let us shoot there, but as long as my photog agreed not to use the tripod or the extra flash, she let us stay. i would get a permit to be safe

What about on the Brooklyn bridge? I've seen some beautiful photos taken on there & in the surrounding areas of that. I like the idea of Times Square too!! I wish I lived closer to the city to take advantage of those spots..

For a Brooklyn girl, Astroland will always be referred to as Astroland It's the same way we call the area where Ceasar's Bay once stood, 'Ceasar's Bay' even though it's been gone for nearly 20 years.

I would do NYC, Manhattan. I would go to just random locations around Manhattan. Subways, Central Park, Downtown, the Piers, Maybe TIffanys. There is a big LOVE sign somewhere in Manhattan just dont know exactly where it is. Maybe even the NYPD station in Times Square, The TKTS booth on the the top step of the bleachers there has a great view of Times Square.

Yesss! I was just about to type this - AMAZING!

Also, 5Pointz in Queens (Graffiti area) would be pretty cool too!

We did ours in LIC at Gantry Park I think that's what it's called, and just a few blocks from there there's a deserted subway station..I have some pics in my album. Loved it there!
