Is anyone else in a long distance relationship? Sometimes, like today, I get so bummed that I don't have my FH around when I need him...

Re: Long Distance
they are super tough!! FH and i were long distance for one summer, and then again for 2 years. he was in NH and i on LI... not so bad, but it was still hard. the worst though was when he had to go to sweden for 2 months!!

Re: Long Distance
We've been long distance for three years - he's in Maryland and I'm on LI... we're supposed to have one of us move this summer... but that is predicated on someone getting a teaching job in the other person's area

It is so nice to hear someone else went through the same thing! My friends always say... 'I don't know how you can do it' And they used to be awesome about making sure to include me when he wasn't around... but now they are all married and many times I just leave all of my school work for the weekends I don't see him - like this weekend.

I've been in a long distance relationship since August 2005. FH lives in VIrginia and I am here on LI. I completely understand what you are going through. The next time I see FH won't be until May 7. The last time I saw him was March 19. I just keep thinking that it's not going to be like this much longer. I try to keep busy on my days off but sometimes that's not enough. Feel free to FM me. I'm glad I'm not the only one.

Re: Long Distance
FH and I met in college, but our families live 1000 miles apart. We spent summers and school breaks apart... until this past summer, where I worked at a firm out here. He also played college bball and was constantly travelling.
unfortunately we will be apart for 7 weeks this summer because i'm splitting my summer between firms in 2 cities. we will be meeting up in chicago for a weekend in the middle. im really dreading being apart again but i need to keep options open for our future, in case we decide to move back to NY.
long distance can def be done, but its not fun

Re: Long Distance
I think the good thing that we have is that we are both teachers, so some time we have longer times together. The summers are the best part for us. I just hope one of us can get a job for next year so that we can be together.

Re: Long Distance
FH and I did the long distance thing for 4 years of college and unfortunately we're still doing it. He lives in Atlanta for work and I'm here on LI going to grad school and we'll be doing this until we get married. I see him maybe 1-2 times a month.
And even with his career he won't be home every night but I'm just looking forward to the day where when he comes home, he comes home to me.
It's really, really hard and I'm getting really, really sick of it but I know it has made our relationship so much stronger.

Re: Long Distance
I was long distance with FH for the 1st year we were together (he was in MA, I was in NJ) and it was soooo hard! When I got accepted to school in Ft. Lauderdale he said he couldn't take that much distance so he moved down here too and it's so nice to be able to see him every day.

Re: Long Distance
FH and I have been in a long distance relationship since August and we will be until December so about a year and a half.....it is terrible I hate it....cause not only am I away from my FH, but I live in a one bedroom aprtment by myself in an area where I don't know anybody and I have absolutley no friends here......it is very lonely, but I am really busy with school, work, and clinical hours for school....I get to see FH maybe once a month, but it is a double edged sword cause I get upset all over again when I have to leave my FH again....I just can't wait till the day when I can see FH everyday and just sleep in the same bed as him.....I miss him sooooo much and I get so jealous of girls who get to be with their guys all the time....one day that will be me....sorry so long....but it really is good to hear that I am not alone

I know exactly what you mean about getting upset all over again... last sunday I bawled on the way to the airport because last weekend was the first weekend we realized i might not be able to get a teaching job down there as easily as we originally thought - the economy is killing teaching positions... last year we broke up for a week because i didn't think i could go another year through all of this... and now i may have to do it AGAIN!!!!!!!! at least the wedding planning takes up some of my time/thinking

Re: Long Distance
Yea therapy!!!!! Hahaha. It is just so frustrating - especially because I had this high and mighty disposition about being able to get a teaching job - I figured since I am a New York teacher and a graduate professor that I would get people falling all over me to hire me... I never anticipated that the economy would lead to extensive job cuts! Thank you so much for all of your support though. I seriously thought I was the only person out there that was engaged and living out a long distance engagement - now that seems very naive

Re: Long Distance
my FH is in the army and deployed at the moment.... unfortunetally he is away a lot over the past year and for most of this next year unless he gets out early(doubt it) he says he's hot going to re up again but I know better LOL he loves what he does so i support him. I figure if it doesn't pull us apart it will deffinetally bring us closer togrther, We are strong and we can survive anything. some days are better thab others but it's all goodthis is our life for as long as he's in.
So i feel your pain for the long distance relationships
