Danielle, where do you attend school? Mary MOB
I go to Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA... I grew up on LI, and met FH at school... and he's from Pittsburgh too! Most of our guests will be coming from there to the wedding, I wanted my wedding at home! I'm not very familiar with the Lancaster area, I know we are on opposite sides of the state though!
The planning is going well, though I wouldn't have been able to do it without my mom! How is Debi doing, and how are you doing so far Sue? It must be tough all the way from Colorado! I've only been there once, and it was just a layover at the airport, so I really can't even say I've been there!
Well, Danielle, my next question is what are you studying? Debi and Fred seem to have everything in order; I get concerned about the rush, rush, rush, and stress, and the effect it has on them! They plan to drive up to LI, on Wed., to attend the Chateau La Mer tasting. Debi's schedule is just plum crazy from here on out! She and her co-workers leave for Fla. next week, I think, for a work retreat. Then, she has to plan and execute a three week , two days a week, Learning for Life Program, for about 1000 students and teachers, who are in her program. I think this is the 5th year, I will be helping. She depends a lot on volunteers. Then, she goes to Texas on a work learning trip. On the day she returns from Texas, she is expected to help with another work related project. She has to assist in planning a huge June Awards Banquet, before her wedding. And, she and Fred will begin church marital classes soon. Debi's lease expires on June 1st, meaning she has to move into their lovebird nest, sometime! In addition, they have e-pics scheduled for May 22nd in Long Island, because they previously got rained out. Locally, they're having e-pics taken,in Feb. to announce the engagement in the paper. Goodness!! It makes me dizzy, just thinking about it! Anyone else have a ridiculous schedule like this? Mary MOB
Oh they're not alone... me and Dan are going crazy as well. Both of us are finishing up our last year of pharmacy school. Our last year consists of clinical pharmacy rotations 40 hours a week, plus working on our own outside of that in a retail store outside of that... I don't work as much as him, he can handle it, I can't! I can handle maybe another 15-20, he does about 30 or so, I don't know how.
I plan on working in a regular retail store after school, probably Walgreens, but Dan wants to do a pharmacy practice residency after he's done with school... kind of like how doctor's do residency's (pharmacists aren't required to do these, but it opens up the doors as far as job opportunities are concerned) and these residencies are extremely competitive. He doesn't find out which program he is accepted to until March 19th, which means me accepting a job offer is also on hold until then because I have no idea where we are going until then!
Also, we have to study for and pass our board exams after graduation as well... the NAPLEX which is the general pharmacy knowledge exam and each state has it's own law exam... and get ready for the wedding... and move to wherever we're going!
Don't ask me how i'm going to do everything! I'm trying not to think about it!
Well, my goodness!! That's a crazy schedule too!! I admire the careers you've chosen! Not easy! Course I admire any person, who works with figures, because I'm not a math person!!! I had pharmacology in nurses training, but it wasn't my favorite. How did you choose pharmacology? You can answer later; Mary MOB
Thank you! I actually wanted to do something in the medical field that didn't involve blood, so I figured I'd try pharmacy, and it worked out well... silly me though, I still do cholesterol and blood glucose screenings, but I've gotten over a lot of my fear of blood!

Re: Long distance planning...?
I live in LI and the wedding is going to be in PA where my family and I are from. Just now, about 5 months before the wedding am I starting to feel that its tough. Now it's time for menus and trials and showers and it's a lot of travle. It's also hard cause my mom and MOH don't live by me and I want to include them in everything. It will all work out though! It's tough but a lot of people do it!

Hi, Danielle!! Hope you were able to make it through today, having been up late!! Nursing has gotten, too technical for me!! When I entered, I was more interested in the comforting/helpful aspect, with psychiatric nursing being my favorite! I soon found out that nursing also involved long hours of paperwork; Not for me!! I can tolerate blood, it's other 'stuff' that I can't stand!! Mary MOB

Re: Long distance planning...?
Hey...I'm in NC finishing my last year (clinical rotations) of veterinary school and planning my Long Island wedding. I've been able to go home a few weekends and have gotten most of the planning done then. Welcome to LI Weddings and best of luck planning from Colorado!
